Part 1
Allegations against the Clintons during their public careers

Although generally disclaimed, disputed and discredited by the Clintons and their attorneys, over their long careers of public service, Bill and Hillary Clinton have been beleaguered by various allegations of controversial activities and misconduct leveled at them by their detractors.[1] In the opinion of some political observers and commentators, this history of allegations of questionable activities may threaten to undermine voter and donor support for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's candidacy for the U.S. Presidency in 2016.

Commenting in the New York Times in May 2015, for example, columnist Maureen Dowd has described what she calls the erosion of support for Hillary Clinton's presidential aspirations even among long-time big money Hollywood supporters of the Clintons, writing: "I recently interviewed several dozen Hollywood players, mostly on background because of fears about the famed Clinton vindictive streak.... The prevailing mood in [the Hollywood] Dream Factory is cynical. Some worry about the drip-drip of revelations about the Clintons. “It’s like that Dorothy Parker line, ‘What fresh hell is this?’ ” said one top Hollywood Democrat. Said another: “It sits badly when something drops and it’s, here they go again, thinking they can write their own rules, be cute by half.”"[2]

Among the principal allegations potentially affecting Clinton's candidacy are: issues surrounding the Clinton Foundation; Benghazi; the private email server matter; Sidney Blumenthal; Bill Clinton's undisclosed WJC, LLC private company; and those that have come to be known as "Whitewater", "Cattle-Futures", "Travelgate", "Vince Foster's Suicide", "Filegate", "the Lincoln Bedroom for rent", "Chinagate", "Lootergate", the "Drug Dealer Donor Scandal", and the "Ponzi Scheme/Political Favor" allegations. Political opponents detractors of Clinton have brought up these and numerous other current and past allegations of mis-deeds in attempts to thwart her candidacy for the 2016 election.[3]

Allegations relating to the Arkansas years

Whitewater controversy

Hillary Rodham Clinton, First Lady of Arkansas.
Main article: Whitewater controversy

The Whitewater controversy (also known as the "Whitewater scandal", or simply as "Whitewater") involved investigations into real estate investments made by the Clintons and their associates, Jim and Susan McDougal and others, in the Whitewater Development Corporation, a failed business venture in Arkansas in the 1970s and 1980s.[4] As a partner in this real-estate firm, Hillary Clinton was accused of committing fraud, although neither she nor her husband were ever charged. The senior partners at her Rose Law Firm, however, James and Susan McDougal; along with Governor Bill Clinton's successor Governor Jim Tucker; and municipal judges, David Hale and Eugene Fitzhugh, who worked with the firm, all were.[5]

Cattle futures controversy

Main article: Hillary Rodham cattle futures controversy

The cattle futures controversy involved investments by Arkansas First Lady Hillary Clinton in commodities trading in 1978-79. Allegedly, for an investment of just over $1000, Hillary Clinton purchased ten cattle-futures contracts costing $12,000 each. Within 24 hours, according to the allegations, her profits were over $6,000; and after 10 months, she had made profits totaling more than $100,000. Robert L. Bone, the man who allowed the trades to go through, was suspended from trading for three years and had to pay the largest fine in exchange history in relation to the Clinton trades.[6] Clinton, however, was deemed uninvolved with the illegality of the trades, and she cited research she had conducted through the Wall Street Journal for her profitable trade results. There were no official investigations of the trading, and Clinton was never charged with any wrongdoing.[6]

Gennifer Flowers

Main article: Gennifer Flowers

Newly elected Governor Bill Clinton meeting President Jimmy Carter, 1978.
Gennifer Flowers, a model and actress, claimed during the 1992 presidential election campaign that she had had a 12-year sexual affair with Bill Clinton in Arkansas. In a January 1998 deposition, Clinton admitted under oath that he had in fact had a sexual encounter with Ms. Flowers.[7]

"Troopergate"

Main article: Troopergate

"Troopergate" was an alleged scandal in which two Arkansas State Troopers claimed they had been asked by Bill Clinton to arrange, and to assist in keeping hidden, various sexual liaisons for him while he was Governor of Arkansas. The allegations, by state troopers Larry Patterson and Roger Perry, were first reported by David Brock in the conservative magazine American Spectator in 1993, during Clinton's first year in the White House.[8]

Paula Jones

Main article: Paula Jones

Paula Jones was former Arkansas state employee who sued President Bill Clinton in 1994 for sexual harassment over an incident she claimed had occurred in in the Excelsior[9][10][11] (now Little Rock Marriott) Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1991, where he propositioned and exposed himself to her. Clinton entered into an out-of-court settlement, agreeing to pay Jones and her attorneys a total of $850,000, before the lawsuit was dismissed pre-trial on the grounds that Jones failed to demonstrate damages. The Paula Jones case later helped precipitate Clinton's impeachment trial on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice.[12]

Part 2
Allegations during the White House years

"Travelgate"

Main article: Travelgate

Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr exonerated President Clinton with respect to Travelgate, but not the First Lady, in 1998.
The so-called "Travelgate" controversy had to do with the firing in 1993, allegedly engineered by Mrs. Clinton, of the Director and six other employees of the White House Travel Office and their replacement by Arkansas associates of the Clintons.[13] Critics contended the firings were done solely to allow Clinton friends to take over the White House travel business. Heavy media attention forced reinstatement of most of the employees, and removal the Clinton associates from the travel role. Various investigations of the matter were undertaken by the FBI and the Department of Justice, the General Accounting Office, the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, and the Whitewater Independent Counsel.

New York Times columnist William Safire had endorsed Bill Clinton in 1992, but by 1996 he was Hillary Clinton's most infamous critic and his nose a metaphorical target for Bill Clinton's ire.
These developments, following Hillary Clinton's prior disputed statements about her cattle futures dealings and Whitewater, led to a famous exchange with New York Times columnist William Safire. Safire, who had endorsed Bill Clinton in the previous election, wrote that many Americans were coming to the "sad realization that our First Lady—a woman of undoubted talents who was a role model for many in her generation—is a congenital liar,"[1] followed by White House Press Secretary Mike McCurry saying that "the President, if he were not the President, would have delivered a more forceful response to that—on the bridge of Mr. Safire's nose."[14][15]

In 1998, Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr exonerated Bill Clinton of any involvement in the matter, but Mrs. Clinton came under scrutiny for allegedly playing a central role in the firings, and for making false statements about her role in the matter. In 2000, Independent Counsel Robert Ray issued a final report on the matter, in which he sought no charges against Clinton, saying that she had made factually false statements, but that there was insufficient evidence her statements were either knowingly false, or that she fully understood that her statements led to the firings.[16][17]

Part 3
Vince Foster

Main article: Vince Foster

Vince Foster, the Clinton's long time lawyer, Arkansas friend, and White House counsel died of a gunshot wound just outside Washington, D.C., in July 1993. He had been viewed as a central potential witness in the then ongoing investigations of the alleged Whitewater and Travelgate scandals. The circumstances of his death, although ruled a suicide by multiple official investigations, have remained a subject of controversy and various conspiracy theories. What some considered a suicide note of sorts, actually an apparent list of notes or draft of a resignation letter, was found torn into 27 pieces in Foster's briefcase after his death. The full text of Foster's draft notes read:

Grave of Vince Foster in Hope, Arkansas."I made mistakes from ignorance, inexperience and overwork
I did not knowingly violate any law or standard of conduct
No one in The White House, to my knowledge, violated any law or standard of conduct, including any action in the travel office. There was no intent to benefit any individual or specific group
The FBI lied in their report to the AG
The press is covering up the illegal benefits they received from the travel staff
The GOP has lied and misrepresented its knowledge and role and covered up a prior investigation
The Ushers Office plotted to have excessive costs incurred, taking advantage of Kaki and HRC[18]
The public will never believe the innocence of the Clintons and their loyal staff
The WSJ editors lie without consequence
I was not meant for the job or the spotlight of public life in Washington. Here ruining people is considered sport."[19]

The Lincoln Bedroom

The Lincoln Bedroom
It has been alleged that overnight guests of the Clintons in the Lincoln Bedroom in the White House gave a total of at least $5.4 million to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) during 1995 and 1996. The allegations derived from a study commissioned by CNN from a campaign study group.[20] The issue, which came to be known as "the Lincoln Bedroom for rent", surfaced in 1997 when Congress was investigating charges that President Clinton and Terry McAuliffe masterminded a program that allowed top patrons of the Democratic Party to spend the night in the Lincoln Bedroom in exchange for donations. McAuliffe at the time was finance chairman for the Democratic National Committee.[21]

"Filegate"

Craig Livingstone, director of the White House's Office of Personnel Security was alleged to have "improperly" accessed FBI files on several hundred individuals, reportedly files primarily of Republicans and political opponents of the Clintons. First Lady Hillary Clinton, who had hired Livingston as director of Personnel Security, dismissed the matter as a "completely honest bureaucratic snafu".[3]

"Chinagate"

Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown
During the Clinton-Gore re-election campaign in 1996, it was alleged that the Democratic National Committee had taken donations from Chinese banks and the Chinese government. The Chinese embassy in Washington, D.C. allegedly was used to transfer the funds to the Committee. Clinton's Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown, at Hillary’s instruction allegedly, sold seats on Department trade missions to China. Brown was later killed in a plane crash in April 1996, and speculation as to the circumstances surrounding the crash include many government cover-up and conspiracy theories, largely based on Brown having been under investigation at the time by an independent counsel for corruption.[22] Scheduled Joint Congressional Hearings on the matter were canceled after the whole controversy was overshadowed by press revelations of the Monica Lewinsky matter, and the resultant Impeachment Proceedings in the House of Representatives against Bill Clinton.[23]

Drug dealer donor allegations

Convicted drug trafficker Jorge Cabrera was alleged to have been solicited for a large donation by operatives of the Democratic National Committee in support of Bill Clinton’s 1996 re-election campaign. Within two weeks of the contribution, Cabrera was invited to a dinner with Vice President Gore in Miami. Ten days later, Cabrera attended a reception at the White House hosted by First Lady Hillary Clinton, and at the events, both Gore and First Lady Clinton posed for photographs with Cabrera, who had previously had two felony convictions from the 1980s, and who was later imprisoned for a drug-smuggling conviction.[24]

The Monica Lewinsky matter

Remarks including response to Monica Lewinsky scandal (January 26, 1998)

Bill Clinton making a presentation that ends with a short commentary on the Monica Lewinsky scandal. The presentation is known for the quote "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." (6:07)

Main article: Monica Lewinsky scandal

Monica Lewinsky, 1997

The Monica Lewinsky scandal was a political sex scandal involving a sexual relationship between then President Bill Clinton and a 22-year-old White House intern named Monica Lewinsky. The revelation of this extra-marital affair and resulting investigations led to the Clinton's impeachment in 1998 by the U.S. House of Representatives on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, and his subsequent trial and eventual acquittal after 21 days of proceedings presided over by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in the United States Senate.[25]

Impeachment

Main article: Bill Clinton's impeachment trial

Floor proceedings in the U.S. Senate during the impeachment trial of Bill Clinton in 1999 -- with Chief Justice Rehnquist presiding, House managers seated at the circular tables on the left, and Clinton's personal counsel Cheryl Mills and her staff on the right.
In December 1998, Bill Clinton became only the second president in U.S. History to be impeached,[26] when the House of Representatives approved two Articles of Impeachment against him, one for perjury and a second for obstruction of justice.[27] Two other articles of impeachment—a second perjury charge and a charge of abuse of power, which had been approved and proposed by the House Judiciary Committee (commonly referred to at the time as the "Rodino Committee", after its Chairman, Peter Rodino, Jr. of New Jersey) -- failed to win the approval of the full House. Clinton was subsequently acquitted on both of the approved House charges by the Senate on February 12, 1999, following a lengthy 21-day trial presided over by Supreme Court Chief Justice William Renquist.[27]

Clinton was defended during the Impeachment proceedings against him by long-time associate of the Clintons, Cheryl Mills, then serving as White House Counsel,[28] and who later would serve as an adviser for Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign,[29] as her Chief of Staff while Secretary of State,[30][31] and on the Board of Directors of the Clinton Foundation.[32]

Presidential pardons

Main article: Bill Clinton pardon controversy

Clinton came under heavy criticism in the media and otherwise, and was investigated by Federal prosecutors and Congressional committees for certain of his presidential pardons and acts of executive clemency as President. While most presidents grant pardons throughout their terms,[33] Clinton granted almost all of his on his last day in office in early 2001.[34][35] Among the most controversial was one for which it was alleged that Hillary Clinton's youngest brother Tony Rodham received $107,000 a quid pro quo scheme in exchange for Clinton's pardons of Edgar and Vonna Jo Gregory, owners of a carnival company, from a 1982 conviction for bank fraud.[36][37]

Post White House years

The Clinton White House china service.
"Lootergate"

Prior to leaving the White House in 2001, Hillary Clinton is reported to have shipped various White House furnishings to the house the Clintons had purchased for $1.7 million in 1999, in Chappaqua, N.Y.[38] The Clintons said that some items they were removing had been donated to them, but only some were determined to have been donated, and many others were meant to stay in the White House, according to the manufacturers who had provided them. Clinton spokespeople also claimed that the movers had "inadvertently" packed some wrong items for shipment to Chappaqua.[38] In addition to pieces of furniture and other furnishings, the Clintons removed various pieces of White House china service and cutlery they claimed were meant for them personally.[39] The Clintons returned many of the furnishings after requests were made for them to do so by the National Park Service and the White House Usher's Office.[40]

Main article: Clinton Foundation

Numerous questions have been raised by the media, Members of Congress, and others about the Clinton's family foundation, founded by the Clintons in 2001 as the "William J. Clinton Foundation",[41] and renamed the "Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation" in 2013.[42] Concerns center on the foundation's financial practices and its fundraising from foreign governments and corporations, coupled with its lack of transparency in reporting donors, as well as possible conflicts of interest between donations to the foundation and actions of Hillary Clinton while Secretary of State, and as might relate to her 2016 presidential campaign.[43][44][45] All told, there have been some 200,000 donors to the Foundation—which include many foreign governments, Wall Street firms, foreign banks, foreign and domestic energy conglomerates, and a number of other individuals and entities.[46]

Ponzi scheme donor allegations

Main article: Norman Hsu

Norman Yung Yuen Hsu is a convicted pyramid investment, or "Ponzi scheme" promoter, who was a major Democratic Party fundraiser and donor, and who also reported to have contributed an undisclosed amount in support of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. He gained notoriety after suspicious patterns of bundled campaign contributions were reported in 2007, and subsequently when it was discovered he was a fugitive in connection with a 1992 fraud conviction.[47] In 2009, Hsu pled guilty in federal court to ten counts of mail and wire fraud in connection with his investment and fundraising practices, and was sentenced to 24 years in federal prison, the judge accusing him of funding his fraudulent activities, and attempting to manipulate the political process, in a way that "strikes at the very core of our democracy.”[48] He is currently incarcerated in the Federal Correctional Institution in Milan, Michigan.[49]

Soccer / FIFA / Qatar

FIFA headquarters, Zürich, Switzerland
Bill Clinton served as the honorary chairman of the U.S. committee that traveled to meet with FIFA in Zürich in 2010, but lost the bid to host the 2022 World Soccer Cup Games in the United States. The international soccer governing organization, instead awarded the 2022 games to the country of Qatar, which had been considered by most observers an unlikely competitor to win the bid. Subsequently it was reported that the Qatari committee planning the World Cup event and other Qatar sources have been major donors to the Clinton's family foudation. These donations to the Clinton Foundation were first reported in May 2015, after U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch alleged corruption at FIFA and the indictments against 14 top FIFA officials accusing them of bribery, money laundering and fraud, and the Swiss government announced their own criminal investigation into Qatar's 2022 bid.[50]

Clinton Foundation donor records on the foundation Website indicate that FIFA has donated between $50,000 and $100,000 to the foundation, and that the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, formed in 2011 to build infrastructure for the games after Qatar was named the 2022 host, has given between $250,000 and $500,000. Also Qatar's Host Committee for the games was a Clinton Global Initiative sponsor in 2013, at a cost of $250,000, and the Qatar "National Food Security Programme", which is charged with ensuring food security in stadiums at the World Cup, has donated at least $25,000 to the foundation. In addition, the Government of Qatar, which aggressively promoted Qatar as the site for the 2022 Cup, has given the Clinton Foundation between $1 million and $5 million.[50]

This controversy involves a Delaware- and New York-based LLC originally set up by Bill Clinton in 2008 under the name "WJC, LLC" in Delaware, and in New York in 2009. The Clinton LLC (which are commonly known as "shell" companies) with no listed financial assets and no employees, had according to the Associated Press not been disclosed by the Clintons, or listed in their financial disclosure filings, until revealed by the AP in May 2015.[51]

Happy Hearts Fund gala[edit]

Petra Němcová
It has been alleged that, in 2014, former president Clinton agreed to accept a lifetime achievement award at a gala fundraising event in New York City—which was held by the Happy Hearts Fund charity at a cost of $363,413—after the charity's director, Czech model Petra Němcová offered a $500,000 contribution to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation. The payment, made after the Clinton Foundation sent the charity an invoice, amounted to almost 25% of the evening’s total net proceeds. “The Clinton Foundation had rejected the Happy Hearts Fund invitation more than once, until there was a thinly veiled solicitation and then the offer of an honorarium,” said the charity's former executive director, Sue Veres Royal, who held that position at the time of the gala, but was dismissed soon after amid conflicts over the gala and other issues.[52]

Deborah Sontag commenting on the matter in the New York Times, wrote: "Never publicly disclosed, the episode provides a window into the way the Clinton Foundation relies on the Clintons’ prestige to amass donors large and small, offering the prospect, as described in the foundation’s annual report, of lucrative global connections and participation in a worldwide mission to “unlock human potential” through “the power of creative collaboration.”[52]

“This is primarily a small but telling example of the way the Clintons operate,” commented Professor Doug White, director of the master’s program in fund-raising management at Columbia University. “The [charity] ... paid a high price for a feel-good moment with Bill Clinton. But he was riding the back of this small charity for what? A half-million bucks? I find it — what would be the word? — distasteful.”[52]

Hillary Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State

Alleged Enemies List

Main article: Hillary Clinton's Enemies List

A 2014 book by two Washington-based reporters claimed that, in 2009 during her tenure as Secretary of State and while still recovering from her loss in the Democratic presidential primaries, Hillary Clinton and her husband had their personal staff compile a "hit list" of individuals who had supported her opponent, Sen. Barrack Obama, or who they otherwise considered to have been unhelpful during the campaign.[53] The book said the hit list was created so that, "Friends could be rewarded, and enemies punished."[54]

Benghazi controversy

President Obama and Secretary Clinton at Andrews Air Force Base on September 14, 2012, for the return of the remains of the four American victims of the Benghazi consulate attack.
Main article: Timeline of the investigation into the 2012 Benghazi attack

The Benghazi Controversy concerned an attack by Islamic terrorists on the American Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in September 2012, which resulted in the death of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans,[55][56] and Secretary Clinton's role in responding to the Benghazi situation leading up to the incident, and in its aftermath.[57]

Members of Congress and others accused the White House and State Department of over-emphasizing, or fabricating the role of spontaneous protests by angry Islamists over the movie Innocence of Muslims in causing the incident, alleging that the Administration was reluctant to label the attack as "terrorist" for political reasons, and that the consulate site should have had a much higher level of security both before and after the attack.[58][59]

Various officials at the State Dept. were also accused of having made efforts to ensure that the attack in Benghazi would not embarrass Hillary. Ray Maxwell, a former Assistant Secretary of State for North Africa, told reporters that Cheryl Mills was one of several Clinton aides who on a Sunday afternoon “separated” out Benghazi-related documents that might put Clinton or her team in a “bad light,” and that these documents were kept out of the pile that the State Department turned over to the Accountability Review Board investigating Benghazi. Gregory Hicks, the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in Benghazi, testified before Congress in 2013 that, after he spoke with Congressional investigators, he received a furious phone call from Mills, who he said severely reprimanded him; and State Department lawyers instructed Hicks that neither he nor his staff should allow themselves to be “personally interviewed” by members of Congress. Shortly thereafter, Hicks said he was demoted to the job of desk officer and brought home to the United States.[31]

Private email server

Main article: Hillary Clinton email controversy

The "email controversy" relates to Secretary Clinton's use of non-government email accounts kept on a personal server housed in the Clinton's private residence in Chappaqua, New York north of New York City, while she was Secretary of State.

National Archives and Records Administration officials and some Members of Congress have contended that her use of private email accounts, and a personal server, violated State Department protocols and procedures, and U.S. laws and regulations in effect at the time governing Federal recordkeeping.[60] Two of her advisers at the State Dept., personal aide Huma Abedin and chief of staff Cheryl Mills, also had e-mail addresses on the server, as did Clinton friend Sidney Blumenthal.[31]

In July 2015, it was reported in the New York Times that potentially classified material may have been transmitted to or from Clinton using the private accounts.[61] Clinton's campaign staff said that any classified government items found on the server had been classified after the fact.[61]

The Washington Post revealed in 2015, that long-time Clinton associate Sidney Blumenthal, even though banned by the White House from working for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Obama Administration, nevertheless continued to communicate with her frequently via her private email server in Chappaqua, NY on matters such as Libya and the Benghazi consulate attack, as well as on various contracts and other matters pending before the State Department, in some of which he had a personal financial interest, and while being paid a monthly salary of $10,000 by the Clinton Foundation.

"Clinton Cash"

Main article: Clinton Cash

"Clinton Cash" is a highly publicized 2015 book by Peter Schweizer (subtitled: "The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich") which gained widespread attention in the media after its publication. In his book, Schweizer attempts to enumerate, investigate and trace various donations to the Clinton Foundation by foreign governments and corporate entities; looks into numerous high paid speeches by both Clintons in the U.S. and around the globe; and makes efforts to track the increase in the Clinton's personal wealth since leaving the White House in 2001, while admitting that there may have been no improper or legal activities by the Clintons.

The reason why they are going to delete this.
Is because it was pretty big when she lost the White House in 2008. And it got twice as large as since that time.

She is literally writing a book on government corruption. And the media has been running block for her ever since. Everything I just copied-and-pasted is fair game. That's why she wants it gone.

Alleged Clinton Controversies (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs | views) – (View log · Stats)(Find sources: "Alleged Clinton Controversies" – news · newspapers · books · scholar · highbeam · JSTOR)
Articles for Creation needs to be scrutinized if this is the kind of drek being accepted these days. This is one large laundry list of "criticisms" and "controversies" that have been thrown at Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton over the years, most of the salient ones are already covered i nthe main articles or sub-articles. One single-purpose account seeks to synthesize all the disparate & sundry right-wing talking points, conspiracy theories, and whatnot into an overreaching grand conspiracy of "The Clintons" plural as a monolithic, singular entity. All in all, a large coatrack to allege what the fringes of conservative American politics have wanted to allege for years, the dreaded "Clinton Conspiracy". Hell, the article title alone and what it begins with should inform one on what shaky ground the material is on here. Tarc (talk) 21:27, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Almost everyone calling for the page to be deleted ...
Speedy delete - Textbook WP:COATRACK, WP:NOT, you name it. We don't have an Alleged Bush Controversies, an Alleged Nixon Controversies, an Alleged Roosevelt Controversies or an Alleged Lincoln Controversies either. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 22:24, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
@NorthBySouthBaranof: WP:COATRACK is not really a valid problem here, as responses are included from the Clinton's, and other sources, disputing those issues that have been disputed; others, of course, have been publicly admitted to by the Clinton's under oath, or otherwise. --- Professor JR (talk) 11:26, 29 July 2015 (UTC) The article is a compilation of partisan hitjobs and has no place on Wikipedia. I would be saying the same for any of the above articles, all of which could theoretically be written. We aren't a compendium of conspiracy theories, guilt-by-association smear tactics and outright falsehoods about living people.
NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 11:36, 29 July 2015 (UTC)This section I removed neatly demonstrates all the problems with this article. It went on at length about one of Hillary Clinton's aides, noted that she had been employed in the State Department by Hillary, and that she was married to someone who did something untoward. Absolutely none of that is an "alleged Clinton controversy," even if such a thing were to exist. There were literally half a dozen citations to articles about her husband's sexting misdeeds, which has absolutely nothing to do with either Abedin or the Clintons, making it a twice-removed guilt-by-association smear, and I have removed it. This article quite simply does not belong on the encyclopedia. There may be a place to accumulate all the partisan attacks on one candidate or the other; Wikipedia should not be that place, lest we wind up with Alleged Trump Controversies, Alleged Cruz Controversies, Alleged Walker Controversies and so on and so forth. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 11:44, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Speedy delete - There are no comparable articles for other past presidents. WP:COAT problems as well. Alexander Levian (talk) 22:46, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
@AlexanderLevian: Hardly meets the WP:COATRACK test, as opposing views are included vis-a-vis every controversy, and responses from the Clinton people disputing those that they have disputed. --- Professor JR (talk) 11:26, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Speedy delete WP:COATRACK; throwing "Alleged" into an article title is pretty much thumbing your nose at every single policy we have to prevent these obnoxious articles from taking root here. Also questioning how anyone could accept an AfC request at like this at all here. Nate • (chatter) 23:02, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
@Mrschimpf: Doesn't really meet the WP:COATRACK test, as opposing views are included vis-a-vis every controversy, and responses from the Clinton people countering those that they have taken issue with; some of the allegations made they have admitted to. --- Professor JR (talk) 11:26, 29 July 2015 (UTC) Comment Not everything here has an alternate POV, and I wouldn't expect it to either. Plus innocent people are dragged in here just to attack them for how they wish to pursue charity (Petra Němcová can do whatever she wants with her money); this just completely reads as something you'd read on a fringe wiki and beyond that, is really poorly written (summary of the article in the open; we have tables of contents for that reason, along with just paraphrases of ledes in existing 'see also's). Please read the AfD for the near-equivalent Allegations of Bias in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation article; we simply don't write hit pieces about subjects here, period, and I stand by my comments that getting this through AfC is why that process needs a serious re-examination if editors there let items like this get through. Nate • (chatter) 12:56, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Delete per WP:NOTSCANDAL. The article is a WP:POVFORK of several other articles and serves no apparent purpose other than to advance a point of view that the Clinton's are mired in controversy.- MrX 00:26, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Delete and convert to list format i.e. List of Bushisms or break off into more dedicated space like George W. Bush judicial appointment controversies . --DHeyward (talk) 00:59, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
@DHeyward: A list format or navigation list might be acceptable, as an alternative, although don't really see much in the was of any valid reasons articulated here for deletion of article, other than to meet the agenda or particular bias of those proposing deletion. --- Professor JR (talk) 11:26, 29 July 2015 (UTC)The Bushisms article (which is really low-grade quality IMO, this isn't Cracked.com) is a chronicle of his rhetorical butcherings, not controversies. Much of what is listed here already have their own standalone articles, while some of it is outright fraudulent, e.g. the header "Alleged "Enemies List" which make sit look like there is an actual article about it, but rather the "main article" link points to a partisan book, HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton. Tarc (talk) 01:44, 29 July 2015 (UTC) I'm not familiar with all the different articles. If there is enough, a navigation list is the normal course per WP:LIST. It shouldn't a coatrack of material that isn't notable though. --DHeyward (talk) 05:26, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

There is one who stands up to the others. One.
Retain - My, my! -- there seem to a few folks not very worried about their POV Freudian slips as advocates for someone or something showing here, in their comments above. This article is not intended to provide any particular POV, or to present a detailed or exhaustive discussions on the various alleged incidents and matters included. It is intended as a simple research-tool compendium of Clinton controversies, interest in which having significantly resurfaced recently in light of Mrs. Clinton's candidacy for the presidency. It was prepared, and accepted for creation, to assist Wikipedia users and researchers in locating sources for more comprehensive discussions of a particular issue in this regard. Only brief discussions are provided in this entry for each topic, along with various references and external links, and links to Wikipedia Main Article entries, to facilitate user access for those seeking more comprehensive treatment(s), and opposing points of view on the respective matters. Additionally, I might remind you that before leaping to submitting an article for deletion just because one may not like it perhaps, or based on any personal biases on the subject, Wikipedia users are asked by Wikipedia policy to consider whether a more efficient alternative might be appropriate (although, granted, that requires some work and constructive effort). Many perceived problems (such as a number of those thrown out as rationale for deletion above) do not warrant deletion. And, if a user such as User:Tarc determines that an article needs improvement, or has what that user perceives as potential POV problems, Wikipedia policy encourages that you be bold, and fix the problem, or tag sentences or sections of the article appropriately, not to simply submit it, or argue for its proposed deletion.Professor JR (talk) 09:56, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Delete. There was a project-wide attention given to U.S. presidential candidates in 2007, which viewed separate, catch-all "controversies" pages and sections as a violation of WP:NPOV, WP:Content forking, and WP:Criticism. All of these were gotten rid of, Democrat Republican or otherwise, by merging any such sourced material into the relevant biographical sections they belong in. Look at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject United States presidential elections/Archive 2#Status of "controversies" pages. Since then the same has been done when needed for 2012 and 2016 presidential candidates. This practice has made these articles better and this no time to be going backward. Additionally this particular article is in violation of WP:BLP's prohibition of guilt by association. It assumes that the supposed sins of one Clinton should always be visited on the other. And it's especially a BLP violation for other people mentioned – for example the whole paragraph and photo about Cheryl Mills – what scandals is she accused of? She's worked for the Clintons in several settings and she represented Bill during his impeachment trial. Well, she's a lawyer and that's what lawyers do, they represent people in legal proceedings. Professor JR's justification that this article is needed as a "research tool" is a novel theory but one that does not hold water; WP articles are researched from solid, mainstream published sources, not from each other. Comment As the reviewer, I felt it necessary to post this response for reference that I already gave on my talk page: Not to defend my decision (as I see now it was an egregious error) but instead to explain it...1) It was incredibly biased before and edits were made, I think seeing such a large improvement tricked my mind into thinking it was acceptable 2) If it did have continuing issues it would be caught by other editors and sent to AfD (the system worked fwiw). 3) Edits would be made other editors to counter or defend accusations in time. I did believe there was worth for convenience of research to compile the controversies, but obviously there was a better way to go about it. Sulfurboy (talk) 14:24, 29 July 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not a history book.
It's a flawed record, but useful as a starting point. The fact that the liberal media would move to destroy this one page tells me that the Clinton Machine is still at work, and it still has friends in positions of privilege. Say what you want about the Clintons, but they are political/organized/resourceful. This is a sign that they do not intend to lose the nomination to anyone. They want back into the White House.

It's presumptive to think that noone will read it.
What's most interesting to me is that this record of the Clintons was out there during the run-up to the Democratic nomination. There was no counter-article to Barack Hussein Obama. This means that Obama, as an unknown - had the inside track the entire time.

Now, everyone knows Obama's record since entering the White House. He's not running. And everyone knows who the Clintons are - except young people. Dems think they have the youth vote in their back pocket. But when you look at the candidates - they are all OLD and all White. And the one diversity entry is none other that a combination of being a has-been and a never-was. No one can came any of her accomplishments.

A person is innocent until it is proven otherwise by the court.
This is the basic principle of our legal system. Even if it is found guilty, we can ignore the minor offenses. For example, her husband Bill Clinton had an affair with intern Monica Lewinsky. Sex between two consenting adults does not break any law. Morally, it is wrong. BC broke the law when he denied that he had sex with her. He lied under oath but people forgive him. He is more popular than ever. What you said about Hillary Clinton is so far speculations since she was never convicted of any crimes. A person is presumed innocent until it is proven otherwise by the court.
Food for thoughts:
1. Politics is a dirty job. You cannot rule out, mud slinging smear campaigns against each other. This is democracy. We can say either it is good or bad about the openness. For example, when you apply for a job you will try to put all the good things in your CVs and would like to omit your weaknesses but the employer or voters would like to know both because especially in difficult situation or crises, the voters would like to know how the commander in chief can handle the situation. Without democracy and freedom of expression, how can the voters know the politicians weaknesses?
2. Some people call the former president, Bill Clinton, " Slick Willie." because like a slippery eel he got away unscathed from difficult situations. There is no question that he was a womanizer. If the voters knew beforehand that he was a womanizer and sexual abuser, who would like to vote for him? He settled out of court and escaped. When people knew that he was a pathological liar, it was too late in his last year of second term presidency. He was impeached but not punished and allowed him to finish his presidency. One time, he was asked this question. " Do you smoke pot". He replied, "Of course, I smoked pot but I never inhaled." People laughed. It was like a joke because most Americans experimented with it and it was not unusual. I am sure, you want to say Hillary is worse than her husband. She is more cunning and smart than her husband on how to evade the law and being caught red handed. I know what you would like to say is that not being convicted of any crime cannot rule out the criminal activities. There are many top criminals who are never convicted and caught.
3. I am sure that you won't like to believe the least and last possibility that she is entirely innocent. That is, all the garbage ( for devout Hillary followers' point of views ) you presented here are mere speculations and makeup stories. Read the message presented by brigadecommander in another thread that DOJ is launching a criminal probe into Hillary's emails on Benghazi. It is not true. I am not sure which side is true. Presidential election is over one year away and this is good enough time to expose her criminal activity if she has any. I like to see.

If all of what you say is true - Hillary would be in the White House RIGHT NOW. But she's a forgotten woman. When Ted Kennedy endorsed Barack Hussein Obama over her, I knew it was the beginning of her end.

I have another bit of information that you might be interested. The Clinton Dead Pool.
