CODE RED.
My twin girls have started fighting over everything. They've fought before but nothing major. This is complete hell. Like the level of screaming and satan at my house and in the car is code red. They physically assault each other, throw things at each other, squirt their juice boxes and milk boxes at each other, and have started biting each other when they get really pissed. It's complete insanity. We can't even intervene because anything we do is wrong. If we separate them they get upset because they are separated and will call out screaming for the other and look at us like we're the bad guys. My house is a total psych ward.

The ONLY incident of effective fight management at my house was last week when they started fighting in their sandbox and I blasted them with the hose. They promptly forgot about whatever they were fighting about, teamed up and were furious with me and spent an hour asking "when dada home?" with a pout on their face and basically ignored me.

When he walked through the door I walked right out and went to the gym. He called me 5 minutes later with the girls wailing "mama" in the background.

Are they old enough to feed them Cotton Candy. Cotton Candy is safe for toddlers.

That sucks, tat. I was going to suggest the hose but you beat me to it.

I suggest video taping it and then next time they start fighting again play it back for them at high volume.

Also, consider buying an air horn, one of those hand held cans they sell for sporting events. When they start fighting just go around the corner and blast that thing. But never let them see it or find out where it is coming from.

You might also consider earplugs and enjoying some delicious ice cream in front of them while they fight.

I think that your first step should be to find out WHY they fight.

Talk to them individually --- like a loving mother --- and don't accept lame answers.

Then talk to them together after you have some ammunition.

I know why they fight. It's over one wanting to do something different from the other.

Then demonstrate compromise and instill ideals of sharing and enjoying the other's favored activities.

What do you mean? They are 1 and a half years old. They aren't fighting because we're NOT modeling compromise. It's not like they are hitting each other because we are hitting each other.

And compromise doesn't really apply here, because their fighting is over Natalia no longer being her sisters side kick and going along with everything Christina wants to do and does. Christina has an unreasonable expectation that she can control her sister and Natalia set that expectation herself by being controlled by Christina for over a year. There is no way we can intervene at this point because it has nothing to do with us and we don't want to get in the middle of their relationship. It's just frustrating to deal with sometimes and we do make our annoyance know.

Example: Christina picks the green and orange rotinis out of her bowl of tri colored rotini, leaving the white ones. Natalia did this too at first, because her sister did, but now eats all the rotinis including the white ones. This makes Christina angry.

Your: <<<They are 1 and a half years old.>>>

Oh!
You need to put-up with an occasional spat for a couple more years, dear. I now need to agree with Pawnee that your hose idea might work well as long as the pressure is low and the water isn't too cold.

I thought you named them Walker and Texas Ranger or TR for short.
