On masks
Are you wearing a mask when you go out. I do, but not when walking the dog or driving.

Protect and Respect Each Other – Wear a Mask

As we start to have discussions about safely reopening Okanogan County and Washington State, we need to be prepared to follow certain guidelines in order to protect each other and prevent a second wave. We’ll learn more in the coming days about the Governor’s plan and phases to reopen the state, but we know there are some critical steps that will be important, including wearing a mask in public.

The tricky part about wearing a mask is, they do a little to protect the person wearing the mask but they do a LOT to protect everyone around them. When you wear a mask, your germs stay contained in the mask and are unable to reach others. We need everyone to wear masks in order to protect everyone! About 25% of people who have COVID-19 have NO symptoms. This means that only wearing a mask when someone is sick is not enough – it must be worn all the time, by everyone.

When you walk into the store and see the essential workers all wearing masks, they are doing that to protect you. If you don’t wear a mask as well, you are putting them unnecessarily at risk.

So next time you need to go to the grocery store, please do your part and wear a mask – not to protect yourself, but to protect those around you.

Plague Doctor
My mask is a rivet festooned leather bird beak mask, like those worn by 16th century plague doctors. The hat I got to go with it is steam punk, and just not right. First, it is tight, so I cannot wear it with the mask (those straps go over the head). Second, it needs to be a shorter crown. While not top hat height, it is still just a bit high, while the rim is not wide enough. I am thinking of replacing it with a Spanish style hat with tassels. The trouble with that is that I'm not keen on the tassels.

The hat needs to look like the ones in the old Mad "Spy vs. Spy" comic.

The mask scares the hell out of my two year old grandson, so I do not wear it around him. I also need to find a decent cape. Not really big on capes--right now I just make do with a black Carhartt.

I have a Commedia Dell'Arte mask from a Venetian masquerade I went to one time. Does the job of keeping people at distance

The glass is purplish and a little hard to see through
Yeah, it is half real leather--so not completely genuine, but with the look and feel of completely real leather. My dad took a photo of me, I will figure out a way to upload it somewhere.

I have thought about the smoky lantern but need a better hat and the cape first.

I Have a Place
The bio page is broken by GK. Once I modify it my profile also changes. Ergo I cannot touch it. Until they get around to fixing this.

I had a device for loading photos but it appears to be misplaced. So I will put it up tomorrow.

Quite a nice mask, but what about the apparent holes in it? They certainly look bigger than a virus particle

In America even the viruses are big

Zorro
Yes, I am sure that's true - at least in Texas!

I vividly remember my very first visit to USA, I think it was round about 1971 or so. At that time I visited Philadelphia (and NYC briefly) for about a month. My very first impression of "it" was indeed that everything was the same as at home, except MUCH BIGGER!

At that time it was true for cars (later on smaller cars became more popular in America), and just about everything else, even BIRDS. Exactly the same bird as at home but three times the size! And thunderstorms - 10-fold intensity. And so on....except girls  . Nowadays they are BIG too.

Mask
The holes are ok--the nose is where the camphor or potpourri is kept. So the virus is filtered through stuff in the beak. It works fairly well, but you see I don't have it tucked beneath the hat. That hat is fine with nothing, but the mask straps make it just too tight.

Plus, the crown is too high and the brim too narrow. I'm thinking of getting a Spanish felt hat, with the tassels. I don't really need tassels on my hat, but I just can't find exactly what I want.

This hat would go great with that mask IMHO

Perhaps a tad too big.

Yeah
No.

The hat cannot overshadow the mask. It is the mask that is the focal point. A hat like that and I'd need to tie a scarf around one wrist, and maybe tie my shirt tails together...

☺️ However just add a Dreadwind Swept Hilt Rapier after that and you would look capital.

A Dashing Figure
Who wouldn't look great sporting a nice rapier at their side? I would need a darker mustache, though. Not that anyone could see it under the mask...

Anyway--that is right.

"No."

It looks like you already have the standard plague hat in that picture.

Groper Tours Mask Factory
What was most hilarious about this, outside the fact no one was wearing a mask (not just ImPOTUS), was the music blaring in the background. Someone thought "Live or Let Die" was an excellent choice for this visit.

Most appropriate.

It's not how I see it, but the question of wearing or not wearing a mask is becoming a political statement in America --- those who wear a mask are lefties and those who do not wear a mask are righties.

Nobody is arguing that a mask protects the wearer from infection notably less than it protects all others, but guess what would happen if everybody wore a mask for a while like the Chinese, etc do it?

This phenomena seems to demonstrate a fundamental difference between lefties and righties. The right doesn't see the value in anything if it doesn't protect them and their immediate circles --- maybe that's why righties pack more iron than lefties, huh?

People are getting nasty over the wearing or not wearing question. Am I attracting hard core trumpsters by wearing a mask? This emerging violence is tied to making the mask issue political and can be entirely hung on his majesty. Thanks trump, you are my hero. "Oink, oink" oh great one. Jon

On masks
They are definitely a leftist ploy to scare the gullible masses. Now, as for the president being fat shamed by the looney left, if Trump is "morbidly obese", then what does that make Stacey Abrams? It ain't pleasingly plump, I can tell you that.
