![]() Now, I love good dance music, I'm a DJ sometimes, and I play a wide range of music, usually reggae and electro-house. That first link is what I'd call really, really bad techno. The second one just crap electronica, and the third was bad happy hardcore. All three offended me. You need to hear some proper dance music. www.youtube.com Some breakcore with naughty words www.youtube.com Some filthy electro-house, play at high volume, bass up www.youtube.com Some nasty drum n bass |

![]() 2002 . >>. . folks listen to music for all sorts of reasons but it often seems to me that reminiscence is a big factor for the not so young. There's a plethora of fabulous contemporary music around currently including electronica. It's just that much of it doesnt get played on mainstream radio or cater to folks who are more entranced by "celebrity" than talent /rant |

![]() whenever possible. i own a car. however, it is pure practicality. i do spend a dime on it other than to maintain it. no glitz, no extras, just a device for transportation. i admit i bought a fairly nice toyota pick up 2 years ago (used, with 118 k miles on it), but that was the nicest vehicle i have ever had. i have always bought practical used vehicles. i am not absolutely against cars as they are so necessary in today's society. i just don't understand people who seem to gain so much sense of self by what they are driving. daley - you are inches from getting banned from the club for mentioning george micheal in this thread!!! lol |

![]() 2002" Oh there's been plenty. Have a listen to this... www.youtube.com Mr Scruff - Ninja Tuna (2008) There's tons of good electro being released, you've just got to look for it, because you're not going to find it on the radio. Labels are a good place to start, check out Warp, Planet Mu, and Ninjatunes, there's new stuff on these labels all the time, and it's all quality electronica. |

![]() I've run into a good amount of downtempo/chills stuff that I think is really, really good, but just regular dance? I don't know man . . . we don't get much dance music on our radio here in the states btw. I mean there's plenty of stuff that is catchy and you can dance to it, but it's NOT the great stuff of years past. I don't know man . . . Here's one I like a lot for instance: The Egg - Lost at Sea www.youtube.com |

![]() I appreciate what you're saying. Dance music around the turn of the century was incredible, and some of the stuff from the real early days just doesn't seem to age, in fact, most of my favourite dance music tunes are from the early 90's. Here's a few of my favourites... www.youtube.com The Orb - Towers of Dub (1992) www.youtube.com - Future Sound of London - Papua New Guinea (1991). www.youtube.com Orbital - Satan (1992) Three of the greatest electronic tunes ever written. I haven't heard anything like this for a long time, not new stuff. I saw Orbital early August, and the Orb last summer, and it was incredible to see them, but it's not new music. Nothing compares. But that's not to say what's being made today is not worth listnening to, in certain genres the quality is better than it's ever been, like electro-house. And then there's new genres srpinging up all the time; dubstep is particularly popular over here at the moment, though personally I think it's a bit weak for dancing to, I've no idea why they insist on playing it in clubs, it's better for chilling to at home. Listening to Orbital, I realise that early dance music is far superior. But don't dismiss today's dance music, dig deep and you'll find some gems. |

![]() is Little Fluffy Clouds, and Papua New Guinea . . . well . . . it's just epic The last really good "electronic" show I went to was back in 2002. Saw Sasha & Digweed on their American Delta Heavy Tour. It was ridiculous. Some of what I'm talking about from days gone by (unequaled): Energy 52 - Cafe' Del Mar (original mix) www.youtube.com Underworld - Born Slippy (NUXX) www.youtube.com Sasha - Xpander www.youtube.com DnTel - (This is) The Dream of Evan and Chan (Superpitcher Kompakt remix) www.youtube.com Hardfloor - Acperience 1 www.youtube.com Hybrid - Finished Symphony www.youtube.com Aphex Twin - Didgeridoo www.youtube.com Chicane - Saltwater www.youtube.com Banco De Gaia - Heliopolis www.youtube.com Salt Tank - Eugina www.youtube.com Push - Strange World www.youtube.com Three Drives - Greece 2000 www.youtube.com Yahel - Voyage (Original) www.youtube.com Binary Finary - 1998 www.youtube.com Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (Alaska Sunset Mix) www.youtube.com Leftfield - Phat Planet www.youtube.com But you are right, I need to spend some time digging . . . I haven't had much time since starting training . . . found this little ditty though, I wouldn't know how to classify some of this stuff anymore, pretty duuuurty track though . . . could get down to it Deadmau5 - Ghosts N Stuff www.youtube.com And some new dirty DnB DJ Fresh - Heavyweight www.youtube.com Still, none of the new stuff seems as epic as that old stuff . . . that's enough for now |

![]() Yeah, good list of tunes. Energy 52 - not my thing, bit cheesy for me. Underworld - brilliant, though Born Slippy isn't my favourite, try this rarity - www.youtube.com Sasha - again, superb stuff, Xpander is awesome, here's another one off the same EP - www.youtube.com DnTel - lame, sorry. Hardfloor - oh yes! Here's my favourite from these wonderful guys - www.youtube.com Hybrid - forgot about this tune, yeah it's ok, doesn't offend me like most of it's genre. Aphex Twin - got everything of his, in my opinion this guy is the most important electronica producer of them all, in the future he'll be compared to people like Mozart, he's just incredible. In the 80's when he started making music, he wasn't happy with the production equipment he had, so he made his own programmes, and wrote his tunes using them. That is a special kind of talent, not only can he write fantastic dance music, but he can create the instruments to make the kind of music he wants! Pure genius. I could talk about Aphex Twin all day long. www.youtube.com Chicane - never got on with these guys, again, just a bit lame for my liking. Banco De Gaia - brilliant stuff. Leftfield - again, another one of my favourites, their first album blew my mind to pieces. www.youtube.com The rest of the list I haven't heard of, gonna play through them now as I do some housework! I'll have a listen to the rest of the links too, especially that Orbital one! |

![]() Push - not too bad Three Driver - rubbish Yahel - again, rubbish Binary Finary - started off well, but then offended me greatly! Thrillseekers - this is listenable, I don't mind this. Deadmau5 - yeah, this is quite good, it's electro-house. Not really filthy enough for me to play out, but I like it. And DJ Fresh - one half of the incredible Bad Company, the greatest of all DnB acts. This tune you've linked is lovely. More of him - www.youtube.com Orbital - Chime, that's an awesome tune, Orbital are kings! 808 State - Cubik, these guys are just superb, great tune! Calssic. A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo ray, oh yes! Makes the hairs on my neck stand up, this tune does! Love it. And Popcorn is great! The drum loops on this tune are incredible, a tune that was way ahead of its time. More for you... Squarepusher - My Red Hot Car www.youtube.com just awesome Pyschopod - Stop the Carnage www.youtube.com psychadelic trance at its finest Hoxton Wh0res - Friday saturday Love (Will Bailey remix) www.youtube.com exactly the kind of electro-house I play out! Robbie William - Lovelight (Soulwax remix) - www.youtube.com This is an incredible remix, don't be put off by the original artist! A tune I play out a lot, it messes with people's heads! Luke Vibert - Play www.youtube.com Bass alert!! Loran Bennet - Breakfast In Bed - www.youtube.com Why UB40 need to be shot. |

![]() The Doors win, in my opinion. BUT, How about Andrewalla's Dream? Incredible. Put that vinyl on again, friends, and see how brilliant it was. USA cousins, you may need our (UK) help. BUT, they were psychodelic, Man!!! The LP is brilliant, surpassing the Beatles, Pink Floyd and, maybe, The Doors. |

![]() "OK, folks, I started this thread as a discussion about who was more inspirational - The Doors or The Beatles?" First post: "Revolver, Sgt. Pep's v. The Doors, Strange Days Even though that I am British, give me the Doors any day. It was the Doors and others (e.g. After Bathing at Baxters) who changed the face of 'Pop'music, not the Beatles. Discuss! " Come on chess: This is perfect for you |
