The eloquent "S"
Here's the great S responding to Dmaestro in another club.

<<<Fully vaccinated people should be able to go anywhere without wearing a mask... or don't the vaccines work?>>>

Nice
Such a naive childlike simplistic view. Almost endearing.

Almost.

My Semper Fi comment.

I consider a stint in the Marines to be a badge of honor --- especially during war time, and that's a far cry from my opinion of "S".

I have doubts that S was even in the Marines and if he was, he was likely anything but to a good Marine.
You may recall his comment to you a few years back when he asked you how many times you had been the subject of a "sock (blanket) party.".
You responded appropriately --- Explaining that sock parties were reserved for F-ups in the Marines and were in-fact illegal.

S has a way of bragging about his war experiences and discussing them as though they were a 1.5 hour long movie, and we both know that WAR is NOTHING like a movie --- It's apparent that S enjoyed watching the "blankiet party" in Solid Metal Jacket

Don't ignore or misinterpret this legitimate question ?
Do we still need social distancing and wearing masks when the vaccines are 95% effective ?

Follow the Law
Ace. To address one or two of your questions:

We need to follow what the scientists like Dr. Faucet is who is saying (more or less) " It's safer now to not wear a mask IF you have been vaccinated, but you can do a better job to help mankind if you DO wear a mask even if you have been vaccinated."

I have been vaccinated, and I still wear a mask in in public and business establishments, because I to want to do what ever little assistance I can muster to the betterment of mankind, because THAT may well be one of God's great laws.

Follow the logic, ACE
To address one or two of your questions, allow me to opinionize:

We need to follow what the scientists like Dr. Faucet is who is saying (more or less) " It's safer now to not wear a mask IF you have been vaccinated, but you can do a better job to help mankind if you DO wear a mask even if you have been vaccinated."

Your question shows that you don't think very clearly.

Even if a vaccine is 100% effective, that means NOTHING to a person who isn't vaccinated.

Also, what do you mean by 'need'? You don't 'need' a parachute to jump out of a plane, but it comes in handy if you want to survive the landing.

Try using a bit more precision in your questions and you will get more meaningful answers.

Yea, but you can also do it with a hang glider or a balloon, and it's always a better ride than riding the plane to ground amidst 100's of different pitched blood curdling screams, isn't it?

That is an apt response. It conveys the underlying theme in so many of Ace's comments about COVID; that no matter what you do, it will make no difference. The plane will crash anyway.

Back when we had no reliable vaccine, he was saying nothing would be of any benefit except a vaccine; not we have several vaccines (plus in America at least, a government with the competence to handle the logistics of getting them into arms), so he is shifting back to accepting 95% as 'good enough'. No use to try to eliminate the virus; just let 5% of Americans die!

Don't you just LOVE to know that your brave men and women in uniform rely on that sort of thinking for their continuing good health?
