His 9th Symphony has been a Musical icon.
Ode to the Joy is Beethoven 's legacy to mankind.

A true musical genius. The 9th symphony especially. My, with nearly all of his hearing abilities non-existent . . .

And then the resulting masterpiece; boggles my imagination.

"At the premiere of symphony No. 9, Beethoven had to be physically turned around to see the audience applaud him, some even waved handkerchiefs"

The Third Movement
I remember reading this statement on Beethoven 's biography.
By the way the four movements are amazing.
I think the third movement is beautiful, so celestial and
has a feeling of ecstasy and harmony.

Will have to reacquaint myself with the 9th. This piece requires more effort to enjoy because it is so powerful. Does that make sense?

I mean compard to his 6th symphony the 9th just sounds more serious I think. The 6th symphony I am much more familiar with. It's so easy going. Until what the 3rd movement; isn't that the "thunderstorm"?

Exquisite beauty!

6th Symphony
Also known as The Pastoral, it is a gorgeous Symphony.
On the Fantasia Disney movie, the particular symphony
is played.
It is a Symphony of rejoicing Nature .
Composed in 1808.

Widely regarded as the greatest composer who ever lived, Ludwig van Beethoven dominates
a period of musical history as no one else before or since.

I agree. Beethoven changed Music from the Classical
to the Romantic period. His influence on Schubert and
Brahms was notorious. Also for the rest of the Romantic
Composers who followed him.

Symphony No. 5 in C Minor
widely recognized by the ominous four-note opening motif—often interpreted as the
musical manifestation of “fate knocking at the door”

Beethoven and Goethe
Unfortunately these two great artists did not get along.
They had a mutual respect. but their personalities did
not quite match.
They met in 1812 at Teipliz.
Beethoven did write an overture regarding Goethe.
"The Count Egmont ". Obviously it was before they met.

Fidelio
Fidelio's is Beethoven only opera he wrote.
Hard to believe, knowing that his genius surpassed
every aspects of music.
According to a critic, it seems Beethoven was in a
emotional conflict or depression in 1805. He just had
a loss of a woman he loved , and this is time he wrote
Fidelio. He never thought the opera was good for his standards
Beethoven was his worst critic, and 1805 was the premiere
of the opera. But in 1806 there was a revision of Fidelio;
and in 1814 was the final revision of the Fidelio.
And those times, he wrote three different overtures.
Leonore I , II and finally Leonore III.

Critics claimed that for his first and only opera; it is a very
good opera. It is fact that Mozart, Wagner and Verdi had
some difficulties in their first opera
Perhaps Beethoven never wanted to continue in composing
another opera. Then again Fidelio is a great opeta.

In that year 1805, a 17 year old Franz Schubert went to the
premiere of Fidelio. He had to sell his schoolbooks, so can
have the money to see the opera.
We all know that Schubert loves Beethoven 'a music.

i have studied Beethoven's Music for many years now
And i can find no parallel. Even among the greats he reached peaks they never saw. He had many faces. Because of his growing infirmity he stretched his imagination far beyond mortal bounds. At least i think so.

Angry Beethoven;play loud;www.youtube.com

Sad Beethoven; www.youtube.com

Calm,profound Beethoven;www.youtube.com

Probably his most expressive piece.; pay close attention to time marker 5;00-6;03 in which the music transcends the tonal language and enters the realm of sublimity..;www.youtube.com.

Beethoven nears insanity and yet still manages a powerful master piece.;www.youtube.com

I could go on and on. So great were his achievements. But i lastly offer up his final moments.where he bravely accepts his fate. This short piece is profoundly Beautiful;www.youtube.com

'' Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy''. Ludwig van Beethoven

you are absolutely correct!!! To this day they have not been surpassed. I think Beethoven was a once in a thousand years phenomena. By the way the Beethoven, String Quartet No. 13 in B flat, Opus 130, Cavatina, was placed aboard the Voyager 1 spacecraft. And has left our Solar system. It might not be found by other civilizations for thousands of years. But as an Astronomer i believe that it will be found. And the beings that find it will say that of all the different musical pieces aboard the craft, this Beethoven guy awesome!!! Immortality indeed....

Mission status for Voyager 1 and 2;voyager.jpl.nasa.gov.

To put things in prospective,it will take Voyager 1, ( launched in 1977 and traveling at approx 36 miles per second) 44.000 years to reach the nearest star. So it's gonna take a while. Humans might be extinct by then. But not Beethoven's Music.

I do agree with that statement.
Humans might be gone, but Beethoven 's music will
last for a long time !!
