Ode to the Joy is Beethoven 's legacy to mankind. |

And then the resulting masterpiece; boggles my imagination. "At the premiere of symphony No. 9, Beethoven had to be physically turned around to see the audience applaud him, some even waved handkerchiefs" www.thevintagenews.com |

The Third Movement By the way the four movements are amazing. I think the third movement is beautiful, so celestial and has a feeling of ecstasy and harmony. |

I mean compard to his 6th symphony the 9th just sounds more serious I think. The 6th symphony I am much more familiar with. It's so easy going. Until what the 3rd movement; isn't that the "thunderstorm"? Exquisite beauty! |

Beethoven and Goethe They had a mutual respect. but their personalities did not quite match. They met in 1812 at Teipliz. Beethoven did write an overture regarding Goethe. "The Count Egmont ". Obviously it was before they met. |

FidelioHard to believe, knowing that his genius surpassed every aspects of music. According to a critic, it seems Beethoven was in a emotional conflict or depression in 1805. He just had a loss of a woman he loved , and this is time he wrote Fidelio. He never thought the opera was good for his standards Beethoven was his worst critic, and 1805 was the premiere of the opera. But in 1806 there was a revision of Fidelio; and in 1814 was the final revision of the Fidelio. And those times, he wrote three different overtures. Leonore I , II and finally Leonore III. Critics claimed that for his first and only opera; it is a very good opera. It is fact that Mozart, Wagner and Verdi had some difficulties in their first opera Perhaps Beethoven never wanted to continue in composing another opera. Then again Fidelio is a great opeta. In that year 1805, a 17 year old Franz Schubert went to the premiere of Fidelio. He had to sell his schoolbooks, so can have the money to see the opera. We all know that Schubert loves Beethoven 'a music. |
