Art Tatum
You’re Mine You From the Tatum Group Masterpieces youtu.be Art Tatum, piano Buddy DeFranco, clarinet Red Callender, bass Bill Douglass, drums Recorded 1956 This is probably my favorite track from the Tatum Group Masterpieces, which has a total of 80 tracks on eight CDs. I remember listening to this song on a cassette while I was driving to work in the ‘80s and it hadn’t finished by the time I got to the job, so I sat in my car and listened to the last few minutes. That’s apparently the ultimate compliment for talk show hosts in radio - if you continue listening to their show in your car after you’ve driven to your destination. I think it’s true with music too.

Erroll Garner
My second favorite pianist (after Art Tatum) plays a beautiful rendition of “Dancing in the Dark.” The dream-like playing that starts at 1:07 and the one-note repetitions beginning at 2:01 are especially nice. youtu.be
