Books I've enjoyed the most, at the right time: Asimov's original Foundation trilogy (F, F&E, SF) Niven's first Ringworld novel Herbert's first Dune novel (I see a pattern developing) Pohl's first Gateway novel (yes, the patten is still holding) Verne's From the Earth to the Moon Movies I've enjoyed the most, at the right time: Forbidden Planet (drive-in retelling of a highly poetic The Tempest) The Matrix (popularization of a classic philosophical thought experiment) 2001 Metropolis Blade Runner Alien Pitch Black (okay, I have schlock tastes, too -- sue me) Both versions of The Thing Dark City (many philosophical themes explored) Buckaroo Banzai (most fun I've ever had in public)
