I tried to play hangman
at work. I had been floated from the kids unit where I usually worked upstairs to the adult psychiatric unit. The nurse had held a medication group where she explained different types of drugs and she used a dry-erase board. So after she was done I decided to play hangman with the people sitting around. I actually had to explain the game to some people, how you guess a letter, and people were guessing words that weren't even close to the answer. It was really bad. But then this big lady in a wheelchair rolled up and started to argue with me about the appropriateness of playing hangman with crazy people. I tried to explain that it was a children's game, but my guess is that she actually had an experience where someone hung themselves. She was pissed, and I apologized and changed the game to flower, where every time you missed a letter, part of the flower would grow, and when you get a whole flower, you win! It's much easier for them.
