Hey everyone
Hey there everyone! My name is Max, I am from New-Brunswick Canada. I go to university on a scholarship for soccer, and I study in psychology. I have no training in chess but I really love the game and I hope to learn alot from participating in this promising club.
I would like to play a game as black, playing 1.d4 1.c5 2.dxc5 2. b6?? 3. cxb6 3. Qxb6

who's up for it!

I'm up!
Hi, Max! Welcome to the club! Oh, and nice handle. =)

That's an interesting gambit you want to play! Had never really seen it. Just looked it up and learned that it's called the Cormorant Gambit in the Benoni Defense:

1.d4 c5 2.dxc5 b6

(Mike, I couldn't find that opening in www.unorthodoxbishops.com)

Anyway, the game's already begun. Let's get ready to rumble! =D

I found the name in the book "Unorthodox Chess Openings", by Eric Schiller. I don't own the book, only a sample of it, which was enough to compile the 300+ openings into a PGN file that Mike shared here. Here's the link for that thread:

There are other variations with bird names in the Benoni:

And also other animals. =P
