Global Economic Meltdown?
Will it ever happen? The Bible says yes.

Here is the passage.

Revelation 18
"11And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

12The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

13And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

14And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

15The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

16And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

17For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

18And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

19And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate."

Does it make sense to worry about this coming meltdown? Not really if your faith is in Christ. The coming "Day of Wrath" spoken about in the Book of Revelation is something for the wicked to fear, not the believers in Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:4
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Christ promised to return to call the faithful to heaven in an event that come to be called the "Rapture" spoken about in 1st Thessalonians 4. Therefore, the worst events spoken about in the book of Revelation are unlikely to be experienced by the faithful believers in Christ.

Christians are to carry on with business as usual, knowing with assurance that until the flood of Divine Judgement hits this world with a vengeance (almost certainly post-Rapture), people will continue to buy and sell as always, right up until the very day when the "lights of hope" are finally extinguished from this world, and all the gospel rejecters are handed over to Satan and are FORCED to believe the lie. That lie may very well have something to do with the mass disappearance of people of faith from this world. Maybe the "lie" will be something about "alien abduction" or some other fanciful explanation for the mass disappearance of believers.

Luke 17
" 26And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

27They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

28Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they BOUGHT, they SOLD, they PLANTED, they BUILDED;

29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

30Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed."

Global financial banking system happens first.
Just prior to the horrific economic meltdown (with all of its attendant woes) predicted in Revelation, the Bible speaks of a one world economic system which will be imposed (upon threat of death) upon every person on the globe. The unprecedented global banking crisis that we are CURRENTLY experiencing is just the opening act in that particular drama IMO. As governments buy out the collapsing banks, and seize more and more control of the financial sector, the implementation of this global financial system moves ever closer. We surely are teetering on the very precipice of the prophecies contained in the Book of Revelation.

A worldwide revival of faith would be the only means to delay these events which are CERTAIN to take place at some point. The time to seek the Lord is right now! Revival or not, hope remains on an individual basis for everyone. If enough individuals began turning to the Lord in great numbers, the Lord might even yet at this late stage in the game, give this poor old world just a little more time. Part of me wants to see God get on with His program right away, and part of me wants to see it delayed so that more could be saved in the interim. I'm torn betwixt the two.

Revelation 13
" 16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
