Where do we go from here?
Bobbob has asked for reactions from the community to his posts in the complaints section.
My first reaction is of course that I don’t want him to leave, but this alone is not good enough.
Now that matters have been bought to a head I think everyone needs to have a real good think about what we really want from our club and how we see the way forward. I’m afraid we should also think about what happens if we can’t find a way forward. I’m not usually the type to be defeatist but bobbob makes a good point, when he says that only a small minority of members want to take any part in the club. In that case, why do they join? What do they hope to get from being part of a club? I have asked people this question before but have never received a response that made any sense to me. I should add that I’m an accountant and not a psychiatrist so that could be why I don’t understand.
I think perhaps that the management should ask people who apply to join the club the question “what do you hope to get from the club” before accepting members.
Anyway, I feel that the choices that face us are only as follows:
We think up and try out some new ideas to make things better and more fun.
We work much harder to improve the things we are currently doing. Yes, I know we are all busy, but we will achieve nothing if we are not all prepared to pull together and put in a bit of extra effort in times of crisis.
Finally, despite anything that anyone may have said, we are at a point where I feel it would be possible for us all to shake hands, remain friends, but agree the club is not working and go our separate ways.
Please understand that this is an initial reaction. I am away for part of this weekend, and I will think more on this. I will be back by Sunday evening and will probably be able to add something else to this by then

I agree with muttit and this was the point i was trying to make that the club is just for fun and we do need to keep things up beat.

Everyone needs to hug

Its a good point i dont know why people join and dont post but i dont think we need to get to concerned about it having more members is good we just need to contact them and try to get them involved.

What we need from this club is FUN we did have it but it went away   i think reading the club description and name shows that this club should not be taken seriousely and we are here for laughs and enjoyment.

Now that we have had a cooling off period, are we still having a tournament director? If we are, bobbob still gets my vote.

I think that the clubs should be closed to just club members! Why can you a person see every topic in other clubs...

isnt that part of the 'club' experience.... to keep it to those who join..?

can you fix that icy???

good point Britgrl, this has always surprised me - and it causes a lot of cross-club bitching, believe me.

oh yeh i know but noibody said something about us achieving something and i was wondering what it was?

its a good point brit and i agree whats said in the club should stay in the club. i will be bob the builder and try and fix it.

Did u know as well that people who often make buildings are on drugs? its true the designers are usually on speed and safety inspectors are often high on weed and not forgetting of course the builders crack.

britgrl, that is just how it goes here at GK. Ummm here's an idea though, we can always get a private chatroom / forum if we really want one. it's easy, but to do this we need a handful of people actually joining and being a regular part of it or else what is the sense of making one? I will make one if everyone wants one, but of course this is up to icey.

Listening to complaints makes us that much stronger. We can't ignore the problems or the people who have them. we need to fix problems AS they occur or else they fester and then blow up later on.

in my opinion

but i will admit that the complaints thread is the most popular these days and i think this is sad. i hope to see other threads being used as well especially the newer threads.

I decided to stay but I do not want the responsibility of being a tournament director anymore. I will continue to play my games where I'm involved and where i committed myself into. And can you guys find one more person for the 1st ca Mini tournament I want to win the chocolate set really badly

moving on
with a / the club improvement forum recently started, in my opinion it would be good to read positive ideas / comments.......have been /are going ok, others aren't , oh well tried and tested I guess, in some cases
this is much better than being bemused by what ya read some times elsewhere
