![]() Though the respective empires did eventually brake up, most of the originating countries remaind, even till today. Egypt, Britain, Italy, etc. A couple of these empires lasted over a thousand years! The word 'empire' is being tossed about today (in certain quarters) like it's a bad thing. Far from it. With few exception, the people living under these empires experienced far better 'living' conditions than people outside the empires. The advancements made during an empires reign could not have happened otherwise. Even today, we (the world) enjoy the fruits of what past empires created. Those mighty nations served their tour of duty as leader of an empire. America is a comparatively young nation, but so were most of the others when they created an empire. |
