David Gedult
Thanks to Andrzej for setting up this club and striving to improve it. His efforts are deserving of praise.

One man who encapsulates the kind of swashbuckling chess this club promotes was David Gedult (1897 1981). Although little is known about him, he is responsible for some fantastic miniatures. See www.chessgames.com - a database which shows an overall record of +27 -0 =0 (100.0%)!!

Apparently he became a Blackmar Diemer specialist in his 60's. The Gedult opening (1. f3??, a strong candidate for the worst opening in the game) is attributed to him and you won't find a finer gambiteer.

Lets confer the posthumous title of honorary patron of this club to David Gedult!

I was looking for games with 1. f3 on a rainy afternoon for no particular reason other than to alleviate boredom. Chessgames.com has a page devoted to it which featured, of course, Gedult. Since then my appetite for his games is not sated and I can't find many besides those on the site; so do let me know if you find more!

I think a few of his games are instructive; all of them are elegant.
