![]() Long intro; I'm a Sr Network & Firewall Engineer. I cut my teeth [Cobol] on my High School PDP 11/70 back in '83. Joined the USAF -- was a "291" [career code] aka "Tech Controller" which really meant that I was troubleshooting DS1s/DS3s, microwave shots, [and much later OC-3/12s and Sonet rings] etc in '86-2000... Got handed my first Cisco router ['95] when they were AGS [huge white boxes that were more heaters than routers] www.knossos.net.nz running 10.2 IOS. Somewhere along the way, a buddy handed me a Slackware CD I've used pretty much every *nix FW somehow along the way..and yet have never touched a BSD system... Of course the standard Cisco Pix's & ASAs...also know my way around Solaris [to this day I prefer snoop over tcpdump]. Currently using Juniper ISG1000s for FWs, Cisco 7200VXRs for routers, and while I prefer the Cat6500s, we're using Cat4507s for our L2 [it was a cost-per-port decision] Huge Wireshark user... I also do in-depth proto analysis. oh yea, lastly, I'm a Pirate Arggggggggghhhhhhhhhh! Pirate TroyC from Seattle |
