markb56 09-Apr-09, 12:19	If anybody needs help getting their Sun Microsystems computer up and running, I can help with that! I actually have two Sun4/260 which were the original Sparc having serial numbers < 1000 manufactured around 1988 (they still work and can even be used to surf the 'net -- try doing that with a 1990 era '386 PC!). I recently surplussed three Sun3/160s with working chassis, disks, and motherboards -- that was sad. I also have a working 9-track tape reader (you know, the kind you see in old movies having two spools one foot in diameter each -- in the movies these tapes are usually shown in full-speed rewind which looks more impressive than when they are simply reading or writing data). And of course I have all the early cassette tape readers from QIC-24, QIC-150, 4mm, 8mm, DLT2000, etc... I always wonder how long old computer tapes retain their data when buried in a landfill? I know I've sent more than a few tapes to their grave. I also know a lot about the looming year 2038 crisis and I know a way to fix it -- you'll start hearing more and more about Y2K38 starting in about 20 years. Anyway, here comes my nurse and she's telling me it's time to shut-up. But if you have any vintage computer questions, I might be able to answer them  . Markb.
