Move 30...Kd7
Granted that things have looked better. The way I see it is that

-we are on the wrong side of the board. Our pieces are on the Queenside and the action is on the King's.
-our week square is c7. Our pawn on b5 is threatened by Bxb5.

I think we need to look at 1) getting some fighting pieces over the kingside so we can support the king and possibly pose a threat to white's castle.

What about 30...Kd7 and let him have our pawn with 31.Bxb5+? We then counter with 31...c6 to block the check which is supported by our knight on e7 and king and our back rank is free to get our rook on h8 into the game?

Won't b4---Rb8---Kd7----accomplish the same thing and not give up the pwn----allow us to bring the other Rook over and free up our knight from being tied down?

move 30
My analysis also indicates that ......Rb8 is best, and I think we have a good chance to draw.

John
If 30. . .Kd7
and 31. Bxb5+ c6
then our c6 pawn is defended by our Knight and King, but it is attacked by his d pawn, his
Bishop and his Queen, so don't we lose it, and besides that everything breaks loose with our
King exposed? Am I missing something?

You are right. Not good at all unless we send hbird a bottle of Jack Daniels and he drinks it and then moves. Scratch 30...Kd7, folks.

counter-attack
I don't claim to have this fully calculated, but it looks to me like we are in trouble on the
Queen side and stand to loose the b pawn, no matter what we do, if he wants it. We don't
have anything that can defend it except our Queen-Rook and he has several pieces that can
be used to attack it and/or the c pawn which is backwards and weakly defended by the King.

So since we are losing on the Queen side, and are an exchange ahead I would counter-attack
on the King side with 30. . Ng3 to trade off Knight for Knight, and be mentally prepared to
sac our b pawn for a tempo. Then depending on his response I would use the tempo to push
our g pawn or to guard it by moving the King Rook to g1.

30. . Ng3 also clears another square for our King to move to off the back rank.

We also want to keep his Rook busy so it can't move over to c1 to protect his Queen making
an attack down the c file.

But our King side threats may not be strong enough or quick enough and he may just carry
on with a Queen side attack anyway.

Whoops
I should have written 30. . .Ng6 not Ng3.
Can you tell who learned chess with the old style notation 45 years ago, and still has to work
at using algebraic notation?

AND
The plan would be to protect the pawn by moving our Rook to g8 not g1.

Move 30. Qh6
Unless I'm missing something, our next move should be Qh6. If not, perhaps O-O to protect our c pawn and provide protection to our king (somewhat anyway).

If we move our Queen to h6 we will lose it when he checks us with his knight and we can no longer castle because we have already moved our king.

31...Rb7
Well, as I said previously. . . after 30...Rb8 he'd probably follow up with 31.Ne2.

Best bet I think is Rb7 which will probably be met with Nc3 as he prepares to take our weak b5 pawn. Then we can evaluate which pawn we'd rather push, either to b4 or to g3.

I'm not overly opposed to Rg8, but I prefer Rb7.

Kd7 I don't like. What're you going to do after Nc3? You'd have to advance the pawn to keep it, so b4, which allows white to position his knight at b5 which will be dangerous for us.

31. . Rg8
John, I think Cyna suggested considering 31. . Rg8; not Rb8.

I am voting for Rg8 because I think we are in deep trouble on the Q side. It looks indefensible
to me. So I would attempt a desperation counter-attack on the K side.
