Hello
My name is Ken and I live in Winnipeg. I first learned to play chess when I was about 6 and played with my brothers who ranged in age from 5-8. We were like steps in a ladder: 4 boys born in 4 years. As captain of ***PEACEKEEPING FORCE***, I met johnclark and have improved my game and my on-line social life chatting and playing chess with him. I am hoping that being part of this club will help on my path of chess enlightenment... er... or at least give me a broader circle of chess players to learn from. Thanks for welcoming me here.

Welcome kneilca2!
Thanks for the kind words. I think you'll find a lot of good stuff on the different threads. Our Academy thread has some pretty sharp minds to answer questions or clarify things, plus the videos there are great tutorials.

Hello
Hi, my name is Gary. Getting ready to turn 65, though most days I find it hard to belief that I'm that old. I live in Texas and work in the oil industry now, though for years I lived in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach area, staying there even after I retired from the Navy. With the exception of my twilight tour in Hawaii(I didn't want to leave), I had resided in Virginia, since 1991, until I moved to Killeen in April 2017. Texas summers are killers, but the winters are fairly mild. I love chess and enjoy teaching young people to play, but never pursued it seriously enough to become really good; something I do regret. However, life has ways of pushing passions aside and focus on day-to-day concerns. Though, I have achieved one of my goals/dreams and just recently got my first book published - "Empire of Hate." This is the second forum I've read and have been really impressed with the depth of knowledge that some members have. Thank-you for letting me join.

Welcome ironblood
Glad to hear you are enjoying the posts. Congrats on your book. Where is it available?
|
|
Thank-you.
It can be ordered from Amazon & Barnes and Noble, in both hard copy and digital. Working on the third book to finish the trilogy. The e-book is available through Google and I-phone apps, though I am not familiar with their platforms.
