A question about clubs
Why is it that clubs devoted to chess seem less successful than clubs for current affairs, poetry, philosophy, arts etc?

When i talk here about success, I mean of course in terms of number of posts, as I see no other way to measure it.

I have no objection to discussing any of the above topics, but when I'm logged onto Gameknot I like to spend the time playing chess, studying chess, talking about chess, and listening to other people talking about chess. It seems to me to be curious that on a chess site, discussion of other topics seems to be more popular.

If anyone has any idea why this is the case, please let me know because I am genuinely interested.
