"Black Talk" re move 34
This is the current position, our turn to move again.

So, it has to be 34. Be7 doesn't it?

Are there any other options/thoughts for us?

e5?
I am inclined to look at 34. . e5 again. Even though we would lose at least one more pawn; the game would
open up and our pieces would be more active.

because
34. ... Be7
35. Qxg7

Leaves us looking at a pair of connected passed pawns on h5 and g5 that are well protected by a pair of
bishops and potentially two rooks. A don't see anything good coming out of that.

On the other hand, something like.
34. ... e5
35. gxf6 gxf6
36. h6 f5
Looks risky but better to me. Am I wrong?

e5
I am with cascadejames on this, i advocated e5 a few moves ago to try and get some
counterplay but agreed with the arguments against it that it was probably not the right move at
that time.

But since we started we have watched on as white has made natural moves and we have nearly
always had a forced move to make, if this continues we will just lose quickly to the passed
pawns, so why not give up the bishop to open up some attacking moves of our own, we still will
most probably lose but at least we will go down without a fight and it will make them have to re-
think their plan of an easy win

Why not
Yes, okay, I'll also go along with 34.e5.

So, 3-0 in favour of e5, with only two votes to come.

I'll make the move then.

time?
Are we out of time? It would be good to hear what the others think. I am willing to be convinced that I am wrong
about e5, and it is clearly risky.

e5
I agree with cascadejames that with 2 connected pawns supported by 2 bishops and 2 rooks, blacks have no chances.
e5 is certainly risky and wiil probably end with a victory for whites but we do can expect some counterplay. However, be prepared :
34. ... e5
35. gxf6 gxf6
36. Bh6 ! that looks really good for whites...

Anyway, I don't see anything better so why not try e5.
