- Master class -
Hello Walkers and Talkers.

This is my latest idea and i will try to explain what i want to setup...

* We have several Masters in the club and depending on there availability we start
- 4 Games with for each game 1 master playing white
- Every game will start with a classic opening like QGA KGA ( jet to be determined )
- The opponents will be everyone in the club excluding the masters who play
- There will be a life annotation of the current position in the game with comments from the opponents as if they are annotating.
- The masters will setup the annotation but will only comment 3 moves behind the last move
- Threads will be started with links diagrams and theory where every move can be discussed.

* I want some input from you all considering.
1. Openings that we will use
2. Available Masters
3. available opponent group leaders ( the one who makes the moves and keeps the game alive)

I have 4 Openings selected...
King's Gambit Accepted ( Open Game )
1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 *

Queen's Gambit Accepted ( closed Game )
1. d4 d5 2. c4 dxc4 *

Grünfeld Defence ( Indian System )
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5 *

English Opening Symmetrical ( Flank Opening )
1.c4 c5 *

-------------------------

There are many exotic candidates but these are the most basic openings in there category...
And they can transpose in many other variations.

------------
Now i need 3 Masters >> and who comes first has the first choice
and i need 4 group leaders who can play for the club

ps: don,t start a game first we sort everything out..

openings
I would be happy to play any of Freddy's suggestions of openings. Admittedly, I currently
don't play any of those openings with any frequency, so I would be weak in all of them, which
is fine, as I would learn. (The only one I have played multiple times in the King's Gambit, and
that I have typically done as White only.)

A few openings I have been focusing on follow.

The Sicilian Dragon:
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 g6 *

The Italian Game:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 *

The Queen's Gambit, Slav Defense:
1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 *

Nice
So Brigade commander vs Club playing the Queen Gambits accepted.

I will be making the moves for the club and i also will start a live annotation of the game where the comments of the club members will be the annotation. ( more details about that later )

Master class QGA will start coming Monday

A real classic :
While the Queen's Gambit Accepted was mentioned in the literature as long ago as the fifteenth century, it was the World Chess Championship 1886 between Wilhelm Steinitz and Johannes Zukertort which introduced the first modern ideas in this opening. Black's play had, until then, centered on holding on to the c4-pawn. Steinitz's plan was to return the pawn, but inflict White with an isolated pawn on d4, then play to exploit the weakness.

more on this during the annotation and the game

yea Nice :)
Battlefleet vs Club playing the English symmetrical.. ( picked the symmetrical because in my humble opinion that is the very best response to the English opening. )

I will be making the moves for the club and i also will start a live annotation of the game where the comments of the club members will be the annotation. ( more details about that later )

Master class EOS will start coming Monday

Mr Staunton the one of the original chess pieces are named of played this :

The English derives its name from the English world champion, Howard Staunton, who played it during his 1843 match with Saint-Amant and London 1851,
It is now recognised as a solid opening that may be used to reach both classical and hypermodern positions. Mikhail Botvinnik, Tigran Petrosian, Anatoly Karpov, and Garry Kasparov all employed it during their world championship matches. Bobby Fischer created a stir when he switched to it from his hitherto almost universal 1.e4 late in his career, employing it against Lev Polugaevsky and Oscar Panno at the Palma de Mallorca Interzonal in 1970 and in his 1972 world championship match against Boris Spassky.

Although my rating isn't back up to Master status yet, I would love to be considered for one of the Master games. My preference would be the Bird (1. f4) since that is my standard opening with white but I would be willing to play the KGA even though I'm not to familiar with it.

it sounds good indeed. :)
I got a load of things to do this week but if all goes well we could start the game next Monday..

I like the opening to be a classic.. And the birds opening is a classic. first played by Henry Bird in 1855 but already mentioned and played by Luis Ramírez de Lucena from Spain in 1497

And if you ever got a good chess theacher you should be familiar with this position..
The Lucena position

White wins

this is one of the most important r+p endgame chess theory

Still busy Freddy? I've been watching for the game but haven't seen it yet. Or has there not
been enough participation in the other two Master Class games to warrant a third game?
