shamash and ion are correct of course
about 14. dxe5. The discussion about what follows should perhaps be clarified a bit more. In my view it is black's move 16......d4 that potentially allows white the leeway that I suggested earlier, namely 17. 0-0 and what follows from that. I am not saying that it would put white in a position better than black, but it gave some hopes relative to what followed in the game. However, had black moved 16.....Rc8 instead of d4, then white would have been worse off. 17. Rc1; Qc7 18. 0-0; Bxc3 with a clearer advantage for black.

Bigpeta vs Ionadowman
Although i was about to pass 2000 and join the walkers Ion generously agreed to accept my challenge.
This symmetrical English opening turned into a marathon with careful play from both sides.
Small errors saw the advantage swing back and forth.
The endgame turned into a walk through a minefield where one incorrect step would lead to BOOM.
Thank you for a good game Ion A fitting game to end my time as a challenger.

Annotation up
It's quite a while ago, but a rule is a rule: I still had to annotate this game. This is the link:

A Walking the Walk club - Big Peta Students club hybrid game. My first "second" game vs one of the WTW Masters. Accordingly, I play black.

One of the worst among the seven WTW games I've played so far. An error at 14 starts things in the wrong direction for black. Then a VERY problematic move at 16 sets up a locked up and immobile position for black. White on the other hand, and despite the locked up board, finds opportunity on the b and c files and beautifully engineers a winning pawn promotion.

Thank you to bigpeta for playing.

It's ugly. What did I learn? I learned not to voluntarily give up material to a stronger opponent for one thing. Enjoy Stalhandske's carnage

@jj414
Many thanks to jj for the entertaining, funny and at the same time scholarly annotation of our game! I must admit that I was stunned for a while by white's early sacrifice, and it took me quite some time to make sure there was not a bomb buried somewhere. I don't believe I have ever played that opening before (or the version of Alekhine's defense that we run into).

The second time I've played black vs a WTW Club master went about as well as the first, which is to say not well. Themes from previous games (too slow; protection not kept on key square) resurfaced. And battlefleet did a beautiful job coordinating his pieces to leave me pinned down and without options by about move 18.

My errors were not the glaring blunders of some of my other club games. Would appreciate any comments. Moves 7 and 13 stand out as causing the most problems. but I expect there were plenty of other places where I should have taken another path.

thanks very much to battlefleet for playing.

This game was fairly even for 20 moves. Then I played an unwise moves at 21 and 23 and it was downhill from there. An overly defensive mindset may also have contributed to less than optimal play. Will be interested to hear your comments.

Thank you to dynamic_dv for playing.

My third effort vs big peta. One of my better games vs a master player. An ambitious exchange at 28 and 29 and then some bad evaluating further along led to a win black. An entertaining game with a high-ish number of moves due to Pete moving us into the Latvian gambit at move 2.

Looking forward to any comments.

Thank you to Pete for another enjoyable game.
