![]() 14.Bb3...........c6 At first...and it appears to be a fairly good move but then: 15.Ne3 will leave us with a weak d6 pawn, which is guarded only by our Q. And if: 15...........NXNe3 16.BXNe3 That would block the our Q check at the b6-g1 diagonal. I COULD NOT FIND AN AGGRESSIVE CONTINUATION AFTER THE ABOVE. On my vote Be6: 14.Bb3.....Be6 This move to safe-guard our f7 pawn from the W B then if: 15.Ne3.....Qd7 To protect our B if: 16.NXN....BXN Threatens the W Q Perhaps we may stand a better chance for a K side attack. |

![]() I hope that makes sense! LOL. I know what I mean anyway |

![]() Be6 completes the dignitary development, and connects our two R's. Our pawn position at this time seems to be invulnerable to an immediate aggression. Furthermore, our arsenal should be prepared to invade fluently. I do see an advantage to c6, and perhaps it should be our move after Be6, depending on the response we perceive afterwards. Please, if you have time, could you expound a little more on your vote. I do respect the fact that you are a much higher rated player, and maybe we will be better able to see our improvement by c6 before Be6. |

![]() I have found and this is purely personal that I don't like complications on the chess board and like to deal with problems as they come up (or potential problems) and so it is probably a personality thing with me. It is Australia Day (weekend) here and I have a house full of visitors. Yesterday was full on with a carnival at the river etc so I won't be able to add much more to this discussion today. Hope I have made my reasons clear though. Have a good day. |

![]() Re 14. ...Be6, 15. h3, what if the attacked N goes to f6? as in: 14. Bb3 Be6 15. h3 Bxd5 16. exd5 Nf6 is the N safe? even if yes, I don't like his B+B to our N+N. alternately, is there anything in: 14. Bb3 Be6 15. h3 c6 16. hxg4 cxd5 17. exd5 Bxg4 Here, we keep our B which is good. And if there is no flaw, I do like that it stirs things up. But I am not at all committed to any move and 14. ...c6 was my first inclination. |

![]() 14. ... Be6 15. h3 g5 Offering a N for B exchange,,,if the bishop moves away then 16. ....c3. if not: 16. hxg4 gxf4 17. Rxf4 Qg5 or even if 17.NXf4.....Qg5 18. Rf6 Bxg4 W may make this move to maintain pressure at f7 19. Qf1 Nf3+ W Q doubles the pressure 20. Kh1 Qh4# This would be the game, of course this is just a Possibility. Something to think about |

![]() of course, MG makes a good point that 14. ...c6 gives an alternate diagonal or two to our Q (and I'm not sure white's dsb HAS to end up on e3 as you had suggested earlier). those unoccupied diagonals, a7-g1 and a6-f1, and maybe even the currently crowded a8-h1, might be useful to us. I think 14. ...c6 may lead more quickly to greater space and mobility and a stronger influence on the center, all things we need. Still leaning in that direction. Look forward to hearing what friar, steve, efc8 and others think. |

![]() 14.Bb3........c6 Now if we all agree, I hope we can pawn storm on the Q side, and maybe trap the W B |

![]() There is no immediate mate threat as h2 and f2 are both protected. he will most likely respond with either Nxg4 or Qxd6. plus the Q is now out of the game on the edge of the board. if you cant see the danger of Qxd6 then follow this 15. ..Qh4 16.Qxd6 Nxe3 17.Bxe3 Ng4 18.Bd4 giving the position below with a barrage of attacks with Q & Bs on the K position also h2 and f2 are still defended So time to rethink troops |
