| Description: | This club is meant to help novices improve their games. Having said that, this club will accept, pretty much, any rating, but we're really looking for beginners, and some teachers. So, this club is both serious and unusual. Despite all of that, anything can be discussed, except for religion since that is private and politics since that, generally, creates arguing and controversy which we don't want. For me, however, my goal is not to get a ton of members, like you'd normally or to get our threads super active. I, however, want to help students become better. Obviously, all GK rules have to be followed, and if we suspect that a post has violated the rules, it will get deleted. In addition, there are club rules. The rule is that you have to encourage the student by giving optimisim. If I see a post where it discourages a player, that too will be deleted. Lastly, if I find that a coach or mentor did nothing to help a student, but just gave harsh criticisim, and only told you that a move was a mistake without explaining why or you can improve, you will be removed from this club. So, I need to clarify this to avoid confusion. It's ok to say something like, if you think ahead and look the entire board, I'm sure will rating will climb to 1100. But, I'm not ok with someone saying something like, until you think ahead and look ahead, you will remain beginner, with something like, a 900 rating. That's because I know what that was like when I was still a novice and that made my learning experience negative. In other words, it took away my fun and enjoyment of chess, for a while. Aside from that, I hope that I can help players to improve. |
