Description: | Hi from Australia. Just wanted to begin a discussion regarding chess etiquette/ sportsmanship. Have become increasingly frustrated at players who deliberately stall lost games. I have no problems with players that play right through to check-mate, but when players suddenly stop moving when they are close to losing a game and all of a sudden go from moving regularly and leave it to the last few hrs of their allocated time to move or they suddenly disappear of line, what's your point, you are not breaking any Gameknot rules but it's bad sportsmanship and i encourage players to block anyone who does this. Chess has always been a game of good sportsmanship and can never workout why players deliberately stall lost games. Can't believe that Gameknot says in it's help column that it's not immoral, of course it is, play till the last check-mate move by all means but stop deliberately stalling lost games. |
