Goodness
Immediately found
2. Qc6+ Kd8
3. Ne6+ Ke7
4. Nxg5+ Kf8
5. Qe8#
completely overlooked the shorter win. Once I see a winning line, I stop looking at any other alternative. I need to work on that.

Actually after
4. Nxg5+ I think black responds with bxe1, and without the rook white takes even longer to mate.

I can see two ways to mate this tactic , if they both work and take the same number of moves then the alternate or next best move is the third best - is that right ? And not the second !
