What is the adventage after 3. .......Qe6? Qxg3 is not necessary, I think

The computer seems to agree with rambohenkie. It chose 3. ...Qe6 over 3. ...Qxg3. It's suggested continuation went as follows:
3. Bxg7+ Kg8
4. Bf6+ Kf8
5. Qxe6 Rxe6
6. Rxh3 Rxf6
7. Rh8+ Kg7
8. Rxa8
White gains a material advantage of +4.

After forcing the computer to choose 2. ...Qxg3, the suggested continuation went as follows:
3. fxg3 Re6
4. Bd2 Rf8
5. Ke2 Kg8
6. Rh1 Nf4+
7. gxf4 exf4+
8. Kf3
White's material advantage is the same as before, +4

When I feed this position into Stockfish, it gives the following
Variation with 2. ... Qe6
2.Bxh6 Qe6
3.Bxg7+ Kg8
4.Qb7 Nf4
5.Bf6+ Kf8
6.Rc6 Reb8
7.Bg7+ Kg8
8.Bxe5+ with mate in 19

Variation with 2. ... Qxg3
2.Bxh6 Qxg3
3.fxg3 Re6
4.Bd2 Kg8
5.Rc7 Rf6
6.Qxh3 Rf8
7.Rc4 e4
8.Rxe4 Rg6
9.Rh4 f5 with still no mate in sight

So it would seem that Qxg3 is better, but not a move anyone who doesn't see 20 or 30 moves ahead would make. All in all not fit for a tactical exercise.
