From a technical point of view, for me, the loose a5 pawn (preventing zugzwang scenarios) and the deliberate placement of white's king (in the way for a 3. Bc8#) together "give away" a lot, maybe everything.

Certainly the a pawn clarifies that there will be no zugzwang solution.

I didn't really focus on the white king before solving the problem except that I noted that it was too far away to play an active part.

I do see the point that it presents Bc8, but I didn't consciously notice that until after I had solved the problem.

I agree that it is a very good problem; no extraneous pawns or pieces to just confuse and distract thereby meeting one of the classical elements of a good problem.
