Chess puzzlesThere are several types of puzzles. We have an important difference here, the puzzles you refer to fall into the category of composed problems or chess compositions. They have their own rules, it's a world apart. Have a read here www.wikiwand.com if you are interested. The others, derived from practice, called combinations, you can see definitions in these links: www.wikiwand.com) and www.chesshistory.com. |

@spulse4To your question "Why does it even matter if I can checkmate black in 2 moves" I would respond why does it even matter whether you can checkmate black at all? Chess is just a game, after all. |

Memorable Set of Posts! There are an awful lot of people who do a whole lot of talking, but they don't have any brains! But one thing they don't have, is a diploma. (Purloined from Ray Bolger's Experience, not to be confused with Joe Rogan's), therefore, I'd like to present to you this, your diploma: 1. Qh1... Kf5 2. Nf2#... (Other branches exist) Like 1... d6, 2. Nc5# Or, 1... d5, 2. Qh3# Or, 1... Kd5, 2. Bb3# |

If black had to move there would be only 4 moves/combinations to work through ... enjoy (I did)
