Very non-traditional problem.
Still fun to solve and the decoys and pins make you smile.

Am I missing something?
Forgive me if I'm missing something obvious here, but when White moves Qf4+, why wouldn't Black's response be Qxf4? Why is blocking the White Queen with Rd4 the proper (and expected) play for Black?

Thanks in advance...

A very nice problem
This is a problem as it should be: taking some time from you to to solve it and giving you a smile after you did.

No Quiet Move Here!
I often waste time searching for non-checking key moves first. Can't help feeling that a key-move that gives check detracts from any puzzle?
Maybe I'm becoming too much of a purist.

Fully agree with you in the Hard section you expect "proper"problems and starting with check isn't pretty.

I have the same problem as paviland in that with composed problems I fail to consider checks (and captures) as a first move. This has cost me a solve on many a problem.

Is it correct if a 2 move mate puzzle begins with chess?
As far as I know the rule on chesspuzzle composition is, that a 2 move mate puzzle can't begin with chess. I've learned that of my old chesstrainer, who was a chesspuzzle composer too. Somebody knows what is the official rule?

@lexlex
You mean "check". And yes, I agree: that's why I had a big problem too.
