Hard and very smart.
Sending the queen to the upper corner to move eventually like an arc to h file and deliver mate in most of the cases is not obvious. Another difficulty comes from the fact that g2-g1=B must be dealt with carefully to avoid stalemate. Very very nice problem and probably the solve rate would drop to 10% or so. Thumbs up.

But what is wrong with Qa5?
Since Qa5 can also bring the queen in the second move to d8, what is wrong with Qa5?

But how could the king get all the way down there with the pawn knight and bishop + rook and still leaving that own structure intact

I know that it works with Qa8, but with Qa5 it does not. It was the answer to kjesper question

I also wondered why Nb3 does not work if followed by Nd2 and then Ne4#? I can only think that it is because g1=B is a stalemate?

I think the problem is that White has to deal with the possibility of the black bishop moving and leaving a flight square for the king.
