A lot easier than it looked at first glance ... I tried to mate with the final moves first, i.e. PxP, BxP etc. When that doesn't work the only thing left is the Rook sac after which it plays itself really.

RJF Strikes Again!
Getting rid of the knight is essential & the rest follows quite naturally. Just look at those tripled white pawns - eugh!

Don't mess with Fischer.

Solved in 30 seconds. First thought was bishop takes pawn, but when I saw the knight would take the bishop, I realized the knight had to go. Once I knew that, the rest of the moves followed naturally.

Triple Pawns
It took me about 10 seconds to realize that I had to capture the knight with check. I liked the triple pawns position. It reminds me when I played an old friend's friend in which I was playing white and in the middle game he had already triple pawned me but still somehow managed to win the game probably because I avoided the end game in which case I would have been burnt toast. Thanks for the puzzle. Later.

With the tripled white pawns, if you rotate the board 90 degrees it looks like a back row mate.

Who won?
Fischer or the other guy? In any case, it was a high-level game, yet no one seems to have had much trouble solving it.
