ChessBase "similar positions" search - is this legal?
In CB12, you have the facility to search an entire database for positions/endgames "similar" to any setup position you choose. I have two questions: 1. Is the use of this legal on GK for games in progress? i.e. can I use this feature to search for similar positions to the ones in my own games (which I am still playing) and then play through the games returned? 2. If yes to above, can I use engines/tablebases etc. on the positions returned from these searches, as long as they aren't identical to that in my own game? Q&A 21 doesn't make this clear. Thanks in advance.

While the usefulness of looking at "similar" positions is quite arguable -- a single pawn placed at, or moved to, a crucial square on the chessboard can change the whole game quite drastically. However it is still against the rules to use engines/tablebases/etc. in the process of analyzing a game, regardless of what is your process of "analyzing a game" in particular. Perfectly ok to do anything after the game is over, but not while it is still in progress. Hopefully this helps clarify the rules.
