Suggestion: Double time control: Callendar + Clock !!!!0) No one can use any kind external help or database!!!!!! (not even for openings!!!!!!) 1) Both players agree that the ONLY time they will be thinking about the game is when they open it. 2) That time could be like in the old days of Fischer - Spassky (1972) : 2 1/2 hours for 40 moves + another 2 1/2 hours for another 40 moves and so on. 3) By the time a player opens a game, the clock starts running and stops when the player stops looking at it. 4) Those who won't cheat will have the trill of taking days, weeks, or even months to play a game with a time control that only professionals of a past that won't come back knew how it was. 5) Those who won't cheat will have mostly opponents with stable ratings, because supposedly most of the players will learn how to use the time in a balanced way, exactly as in over-the-board game. In those games, no one will be playing as if they are in a simul, thinking about two seconds each move, while some of their opponents will be thinking about one hour in each move. Each player will have two separate ratings, one for games with no clock and another for games with clock. For some players, both ratings may be the same, but I strongly doubt that it will stay like that for a long period of time. For my part, I would play only this way. GK might give the privilege to play in this manner only for paying members, for many obvious reasons. (Except for me, as a gift for making this suggestion). By the way, I didn't say everything about this new idea, to keep this post limited. If GK wants to talk more about it with me, in private or not, I have more interesting ideas, like (obviously) tourneys in this maner. |
