GameKnot is simply awesome
Hi there.

I kind of just started playing corr. chess (stil under 20 games). Before GameKnot I played 6 games at chessworld.net but wasn't satisfied with the interface in general and the system constantly telling me I had to pay in order to access a feature.

GameKnot is just awesome. Period.
I cannot count all the times I thought: "Oh, it would be great if there was a feature that...Oh, there it is!". The whole interface is just very handy and smooth. The list of functions blows me away.

So big applause to you guys behind the curtains!!

Yep ... There are doing a good job
Gameknot exist over 10 years now and every year features are added or improved. Some are for paying members only but for the main part everything is available for non-paying members as well (often in some adapted form though).

I dare say that Gameknot is the best (corr.)-chess site available in the world at this moment.

Still True
While this thread isn't quite ten years old, GK remains the best chess site on the internet.

GK's been around for 20 years, as I was informed. Yes, this is my favorite site. What I really like, aren't just the clubs or teams, but the annotations. In many sites, to my knowing, you can't even annotate a game. And, for the ones that you do, you have to finish an annotation before you can save anything, even if it's late at night which doesn't work for me. But, that's not the case here. As this site allows you to save each move as you go. Plus, if you've known someone for a long time, then you really don't want to switch and there are several examples for me. As I have friends here. To be perfectly honest, even though you can't friend them here, which might be able to in other places, I consider the administration staff be my friend. That's because once or twice I had minor issues, which I posted or contacted them, and GK, themselves did an excellent job in handling the situation. And, when someone had a question which I something about and helped to answer, GK came up with more ideas, that I didn't even know about.

It's my favourite (chess) site too.

In all seriousness, every site has it's strong points.
gameknot is hands down the best one for correspondence chess, a pity I'm not a premium member to enjoy it to the fullest available, and it's a given I'm a correspondence chess enthusiast, since it's the 'search for the truth', the ultimate testing ground for openings. Lichess is perfect for live games, e.g, blitz and bullet alongside some chess variants, their interface is great. Chess.com is more of a social network, has some articles and forums which can be quite useful at times, and the advantage of the domain's name, but that's about it.

Rediscovered because of COVID-19
I rediscovered GameKnot because of COVID-19 last year, as my membership was in sale! After all, the pandemic is not only negative! I think I have not skipped a day without playing a few moves here since that!

Hear, hear!
Completely agree. I've been lifetime member since 2006, the first time offered after I became a member in 2005. When it was offered, I knew it would be a great buy. GK has added great features since then. My favorite is Tactics. When I need a hit of chess but I have no move to make in my games... Tactics, please.
