Challenges
When i set start a new game I always use 3 days with players making moves @ least once a day ,
When i receive a challenge i only accept 3 days per move , but is there anyway to only accept players who like to move once a day, like me ?

I am totally fed up of accepting challenges (which i think is the right thing to do) , when my opponent then takes the maximum time to move !!! ,

I get very frustrated watching an opponent continually on-line and making moves against most his other opponents , but not me !! , why challenge me ! in the first place, I am not interested in games taking months or years at the moment which is why i set up like i do

Can i set-up to only accept challenges from players who will move once a day ,is there a way for me to decline if they only want to move every 2.5 days ? the 3 days i use is because i understand players may have an issue getting to a pc over the weekend, does anyone have any ideas ????

by the way
I understand people want to play hundreds of games at once but only want to move in a handful , it's just not for me,i don't want postal chess !!, and they have a right to find like minded opponents,

When starting a new game, click on "More options" and then select "Players making moves" option as desired. When joining someone else's game, simply check the "Average time per move" stat on their profile page.

There is no absolute way to positively insure that any player will not use up his full amount of time given to him in a 3 day game in any of their moves or all their moves. But when you post an "open challenge"you can click on "extra options".Then this should be able to isolate and narrow the field down as to who can accept your posted challenge....atleast initially. So by selecting options like...Players making moves "several times a day" or "many times a day" this should theoretically/statistically be a faster responding opponent based upon your selected parameters....since,if they only make one move per day based upon their record(rather than several moves a day),then I believe that the computer will reject them to be able to play your posted game. Also,by selecting 3% time-outs as one parameter, this will also insure that your opponent cannot challenge you if he has a time-out factor of say,5% or 10 %.And again you have the final say so to ANY games that you post and a player accepts. You can cancel the game before move 3 with no penalty....except perhaps team games, but thats a different story. So look over the players profile.Does his bargraph indicate he moves on average once a day or several times a day?To more insure a faster player simply DECLINE a player that only moves once a day!

Now any player can still slow down later on in the game, regardless of his past history, but atleast you should have a statistically faster player by choosing the parameters in the open game challenges. So choose a player that moves "several times a day"not once a day, choose no more than 3% time-out factor for the option as well.

And finally,if you want a faster game, accept and/or post 2 day games, not 3 day games! The clock stops for all players on the weekend anyway.I think its after 5pm PST on Sat,but i'm not totally sure of that. But it stops on Sat and Sun for sure.

Personally I usually select players with only a few hour average move time(which you should do)based upon their profile.Only rarely,do I play a game with any opponent having an average move time of more than say,10-12 hours or so.I make exceptions, but not often. And most of my games I try to keep to a two game max per move, not three days.

amacivn,
Above I simply repeated what GK said, just in a bit more detail.Again, playing those 2 day games, not 3 day games will usually insure a more speedy opponent! And theoretically/statistically,they may time-out and you might win that way!(as long as you do not time-out!).

Cheers gameknot for the response thankyou
tactical_abyss ...... some good ideas which will help me my friend , you are right , i think i need to be a bit more specific ,

Everyone has a right to there own speed, i have no problem with that , i can choose not to challenge them , people have work issues , stuff to sort @ home , entirely ok

But i do start to get frustrated when i receive a challenge - and then they proceed to move just before a timeout ! ,you have given me an idea as to what i can also do in that i can check the games in progress , to see how long the games last.... if they play very slowly i can decline ,

I was wondering tho' why play 150 + games then only make 10 to 20 moves per day ?? against different opponents , is this a new strategy ? frustrating me into an error !! i think it may work

Yes,lets play 100-200 games at one time...hmmmmm...
amacivn,

There are multiple reasons some players will take on 100-150 games at one time.I call it..."the kid in the candy store!"If the kid is left in the candy store and told.."you can eat as much candy as you like, even 200 candy bars"!How many candy bars do you think the kid will eat?He might eat till he gets sick with a huge belly ache or drops over!Same with GK games with some opponents....if its available the by the rule allowances for the taking, they will simply grab everything they can!Their thinking is many times..."hey,I paid for this platinum or titanium membership which allows me 100-200 games that can be played at one time,so baby, you better bet i'm going to get my moneys worth"!!!!

Ha ha!Well I paid for a life membership and I would never play more than 10 games at a time and rarely that amount!Other reasons are simply that a player are so addicted to chess, loves the game so much, that they want to just play for the sake of playing, maybe 12 hours a day,and do not care about losses,rating,timing-out or how long they take on a move, whether 5 seconds or 2.999 days by the time the 199th game has been "gotton to".

Intelligently however,I have always stressed that "less"is better, not "more".It's my humble opinion that one should take the time to "smell the roses"(take a deeper look at your game moves, position, tactics and more)...and play a lesser amount of games in a qualitative manner, not quantitative manner. Not all,but many players that I have looked at in their profile that take on say 100 games at one time, tend to either lose more than they win OR somewhat "equalize"their rating with approx the same amount of losses and wins...so they are getting nowhere fast. Its like trying to get to point "B" a mile up the road, but the road is a giant tread mill running backwards against you at equal speed to your forward movement!Yes,they are having "oodles"of fun,and thats ok.But then they are usually not very serious to "themselves"about really wanting to improve a good number of rating levels higher. For most of the time,it is more difficult to play 100-200 games and be able to do enough serious deep positional analysis, especially when the other opponent has,say 5 games and 3 days to make a move in only those 5 games compared to the 150 game opponent!See?

In reality I actually seek out players that have say,50-100 games going on at one time and DO HAVE a high time-out stat!!!Now that might sound contradictory to what I mentioned above in my other post, but there is a subtle "abyss" logic behind that little eyecatch.Theoretically,my opponent will have more time pressure on him to get the best results per game, especially in complex positions. So,he may very well be forced to make the "best" move he can in less time, since he must move on to the "other" 99 games! And there is only so many hours in a day.
So,by making the time limit....2 days...not 3 and seeking out a player with a high time-out stat and that player is playing a 100 games at one time...well,thats the "kids" belly in the candy store ready to explode!(or shall we say a higher probability of losing against me or timing-out which is just as good)! Thanks for the easy points!!!!

So play as many games as you want!Play 100-200 game's at one time.If your over 2200 and playing 150 games right now, look me up!I'll be glad to send you into the abyss...but you probably will not come out again, and for good reason!
