Game postponement changes
I've noticed the following three changes to the game postponement policy:

1) 3 days now the minimum postponement (GK used to allow 2-day postponements)

2) 3-day postponements must now wait an additional 2 days and 4-day postponements must wait an additional day before being allowed to postpone again.

3) If your opponent postpones his games, you no longer receive an equal amount of time. In other words, if your opponent goes on vacation you must move immediately else you will timeout, as your time to move remains the same. It also means that if you notice your opponent is about to timeout, postponing your own games won't help save your opponent by giving him more time.

I'm guessing the old postponement polices were too generous!?

I don't know about too generous and I have not noticed 1 and 2. But given GK's policy (at least since I've been here) number 3 makes since. They have always said if you need more time postpone your own games don't count on emergency, Saturday, or holiday postponements for more time if you need more time use your vacation days.

Given that I am glad for number three. 1 and 2 don't affect me too much as it as been a over a years since I've have had to use vacation on here. But I know player on here do use just 2 or three days at a time. Most likely close to timing out and need an extra day or so for a difficult position so 1 and 2 will affect that. I, myself, am neutral on those two things and they won't affect me one bit. I am glad about number three though, If you need more time yourself use you own vacation days.

The only two changes we've made to the games postponements: the minimum postponement time was increased from 2 days to 3 days, and the minimum waiting period between postponements was increased from 1 day to 2 days (or 5 days total from the start of the postponement). Both of these minor adjustments were implemented quite some time ago earlier this year, and are needed to further prevent any possible abuse (e.g. continuous postponement for a long period of time).

The extra time that was provided to your opponent when you postpone your own games depends on the time control for each game (regular or Fischer/incremental), and has always been that way -- no changes have been made there.

The game where I expected additional time was on the "Slow Ladder" (i.e. 5d+2d<10d time control). It was my turn to move and I had 22 hours remaining, my opponent postponed for 3 days and my time to move remained at 22 hours. Perhaps it was just a quirk, but I expected my time to have increased.

Also, I sometimes postpone my games in hope of granting my opponents additional time to move when they get close to timing-out, which is why I hope this "feature" of adding time to both players continues.
