No chess news in one year |

Complain? It's a correspondence chess site and it works just fine. It also has extras that other correspondence sites don't have. Tactics training, Blitz attack, League play, teams, clubs and forums etc. It even has live play for fun and it's 5 bucks a month. You can't beat that. Show me a strictly correspondence chess site that has more features than this site and I'll buy you a membership. The top 2 websites have essentially no correspondence to speak of. I've tried and it'll be someone accepting the game but never moving or some kid cheating and when you get up near 2000 it's almost impossible to find a game because over there everyone plays speed chess. As far as chess news not being updated on the main page. So what? Go post in the chess forum forum and add some.life to that. |

Another It resulted in people leaving for good because it became an eye sore with no chess features to speak of. Change for the sake of change isn't good. The only thing on this website that could use some help is the forums. Those biased clubs with biased moderation is horrible. Reactivate that closed social forum would be nice. As long as people can relax and not run to the admins snitching on everyone like a 5 year old. |

I agree with all in this thread so far. I knew about that for years,but even I forget from time to time and was sent to the "cooker" not long ago.Now,I engage no one who bothers me,smile and move on. As GK advised me....just complain to them and NEVER engage a troll or anyone else that upsets me.Not always easy for me to do,since I have taught chess on GK to many others since 2005. So and in fact,I will rarely show up in these forums anymore.I have a big following but also have a small following that have become trolls.No names here!But the key thing to remember is that GK HAS great forums!Many other chess sites have like zero or crappy forums. One of my old clubs as "deeper insight"(now closed due to my retirement and not having the energy anymore to add to the club).And no,you will never find another GK club that has as much weatth of chess info as my old club.And GK makes it great that my club info can still be viewed if you have the proper link: gameknot.com My input on many GM games was not discussed much due to the fact that my theme and goal was to help the lesser rated opponents improve in "TA style"and using tools that did not involve more deeper and complex GM live game play.But the theories of the GM's as well as my own input was apparent to those who know me better. My gallows humor was always present and appreciated(most of the time!). But that is old news now. The ONLY thing that really needs improvement on GK is the blitz,but then GK as Mike told us years ago....GK was never designed to be a primary blitz site.So,technically it is also a "moot point".And of course,blitz is not for the majority of players on GK.For me,it is however.There are many things that can be done to improve the blitz features from additional time controls,choice of color,better 3D boards and even things like choice of country opponents.On a prior blitz site I was on,anyone could "zoom in"and actually watch a live blitz game being played with other players on the site! That is rare,but it can be done with the right blitz software.But then all of this upgrade would need many MORE players to come to GK as blitz players,not just long corresp players. That is the key.My guess is....that will not happen unless the blitz portion of GK is promoted online and we have a large influx of players from enthusiast gaming and more. However IF that happens,the the "aura"of the smaller and closer knit community of GK would "symbolically"turn from a good surburban town to a large metropolis.That can be good or bad. Take care all,and Happy New Year 2025 to all! Its 81F right now in St Barth(27.2C) but I am flying to Phildelphia Pa to get into the Mummer festivities.I will not like the cold, but was told it will be warmer than normal on Jan 1. |

CloudFlare? Seems that I do not need that,nor do I know what it is!! My home desktop PC is all I use,with my occassional Razer phone to check on GK things.I never had any connection issues except that once a year error read(401?) that GK members get on rare occassions.I am not playing any games,probably until summer or later,so maybe I missed the problems. |
