Out of service caused me to timeout
With gamknot being out of service all night, I lost a game from timeout. This does not seem right. Why didn't gameknot pause games or add time back to our clocks?

Same here. I lost two games to timeout and the site was down. This is unacceptable. Usually in the past extra time was allowed. I am a member since 2002. If the result is confirmed I'll leave the site and cancel my account.

Same - I have been here since June 2002 and this is the first time I recall a service outage causing timeouts. Now in my case it was just one game and to be fair my much higher rated opponent was surely going to beat me anyway. But I would have preferred to play on before that happened

More unaddressed downtime...
I strongly believe GK has been running on no management/zero employees/no customer support for some time now. A ship without captain out on the ocean. What this looks like if stretched to over a decade can be seen on GK's spin-off games site ZooEscape's forums: zooescape.com

Outage
I would of lost 2 games fortunately for me the emergency postponement kicked in

Outage
It would sure be helpful of GK would reinstate those games lost to time out and give us some reassurance they are on top of the situation and working toward preventing this from happening again. Their recent lack of response is indeed disturbing.

I had a problem with this yesterday. But, thankfully, I did not time out on any games. But, that's because, for a completed unrelated reason, I'm playing games that have a time control of 5 days per move.

Get rid of Cloudflare
The main selling point of Cloudflare is to prevent DDoS attacks (Distributed Denial of Service). My banking institution started using Cloudflare and for 24 hours I was denied service because my bank's Cloudflare connection thought I was part of a DDoS attack! Instead of Cloudflare preventing denial of service attacks, I would argue that Cloudflare *is* responsible for being a denial of service. If GK got rid of Cloudflare what is the worst that could happen?

Still no answer
.. from "Support"

Site is very slow for me this evening and I had some cloudflare messages - anyone else seeing the same?

Seems to be working fine today

Still no answer
... from "Support". This is ridicolous

The website was taken over by Enthusiast Gaming in September 2021, in April 2023 they introduced rated blitz. Otherwise... the site has kind of been running on its own? I think they've abandoned the place, with no personnel assigned to GK, which is weird, considering basic maintenance, addressing emergencies like downtime, and handling of financial matters, to name a few things.
|
|
Even if they bought GK purely as a financial investment, it would make sense to protect that investment by having a small caretaking staff here.

I’m new to this site, so I have lot to learn. So anyway I was playing a game today against the Gameknot computer, and in a nice winning position, to boot. Well, all I have is this I-phone. During the game, just when I was about to close in for the kill, a friend sent me a text message. So I answered it. When I came back to the game, it had vanished without a trace, and as hard as I searched, I can’t find a record of it, nor any way to go back to the position and take up where I left off. Arrrrrrrrrghh! Is this normal for this site?

App
Could be your phone. Apple periodically closes apps on me.
