A Question on turning off my vacation flag
I recently postponed by games for 14 days until 13th August to cover me while I was working away from home.

The job didn't last as long as I had allowed for and I am now available to play again. A couple of my opponents made moves while I was away, which is fine, but the remainder have around 7 days left to decide upon their next move.

My dilemma is this. I I now switch off my vacation flag, will this cause the time they have left to be cut from seven days to something much less? I wouldn't want to feel that I had tricked an opponent by unexpectedly reducing their time. Is their any sort of etiquette that should be followed in these situations?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out on this point.

Harry.

Just try it and see what happens. I believe it will simply reset time to 5 days if it is a 5 days/move game.

I recall I've also experienced this dilemma.

Since you don't have so many games, maybe you can just ask your opponents?

The safe way would be just to let the vacation flag be, but start playing at your normal pace. Your opponents could then cancel the postponement at their discretion after you hit the move limit.

Thank you gentlemen for your advice.
I'm very tempted to turn off the vacation flag as heinzkat suggests as I would dearly like to know what would happen in case I or others find themselves in this position in the future.

Messaging my opponents would also be a good idea but I would then only feel comfortable about cancelling the postponement if there was 100% consent amongst my opponents.

The second suggestion of maca is the one I will go with. Just leave things as they are. I can use the time on my new passion for the study of opening theory, something I should have done many years ago but sadly never got around to.

Thanks again

If you turn off your vacation flag you will still need to cancel the extra postponement time on each and every single game (after you have made five moves)
