Ignore list
Does the ignore list not work for Blitz games?

I was just trying to put a player on my ignore list, when I got annoyed by his chat comments during a game of Blitz and then discovered, that he was one of the only two players who already are on my ignore list.

How can I avoid being paired against him for Blitz games in the future?

Ignore list do not work for blitz games, tournament games, open challenges, ect. You can always turn your chat off when playing blitz,or simply cancel the blitz game next time you run into that same blitz player.Blitz is notorious for comments. Most seem to come from those 1200 blitz only players who have nothing better to do than try an agitate a player.

Better than try and avoid that player,do the opposite like I do.Let him bury himself!Do not type back anything.Thats the first step.Do not message him.Thats the 2nd step. Then,if your opponent keeps up that behavior again, take note to the time, date, board # and write yourself a note to exactly what was said by your opponent.....thats your 3rd step. Then finally complain to GK about the opponent, after 2 or 3 times he annoyed you, writing in all that info(time, date, board #,info, ect). There is a good chance that the player will be warned by GK depending upon the severity of the wording he used in the game,or he may even have his blitz priviledges suspended, especially if other players also complained against the same opponent.

How many players blitz and messaging privileges did I have suspended over the years between this site and others?Hmmmmm...how many grains of sand are there in a big glass?

I dislike like you, immature behavior in blitz rooms as well as forums.Like i said, let that player simply burn himself....it will probably happen anyway.

Perdurabo,
correction above:I'm not 100%sure,but I think that ignore lists DO work for open game challenges. Most of the players on my ignore lists are players I would not challenge anyway, being over 500 rating points below me.

Thanks; I guess you're right; I'll just cancel the game next time I run into him again. He really isn't worth the bother to do anything more.

Besides, what he said in chat was nothing too bad; just that now I was going to get crushed and that I was a bad opening player. Unfortunately he was right on both accounts. I totally messed up the opening and I did get crushed. So maybe I was mostly annoyed by the fact that he was right... I'm not usually a bad loser and I have lost lots of blitz games to lower rated players before, so no big deal really; maybe I was just in a bad mood anyways.

While I like to chat during the long corresspondence type of games (in a nice and polite way, of course) I really don't like chatting during blitz.

Best to just turn your chat off then perdurabo.I automatically turn my chat off when I sacrifice a major piece in the opening in a 3 min, zero increment blitz game.Usually 3 out of 10 times,I get someone calling me that "F" word with the "A" word, like I am some kind of dummy or something, but then I go on to destroy him in 3 minutes even being a Queen down or he times-out which is just as good to me.

As white,i'll go....

1.e4,e5
2.Qh5,Nc6
3.Qxf7?,Kxf7!

Its not as easy to simply mate or NOT time-out(as black)in 3 minutes against a highly tactically experienced blitz player as one may think. But the "words"keep coming in!I laugh to myself when my opponent has me in a mate in 3,but wasted too much time in mid game and just as he reaches a mate in 1,he times-out!I could easily write back and say..."hey buddy"you had my Queen and called me a dummy,so what does that make you for losing to my dumb moves?
Isn't that called a "double dummy"????
But I would never do that!

Yes,in your case perdurabo,GK would have done little, but in more extreme cases with foul language and when other stronger intimidations occur, then its your right to complain to GK if you ever want.

Good luck in your blitz games, perdurabo!
