Conditional Moves/Declare Drawdeclared draw in a series of conditional moves that my opponent has not yet gone into. Lets say that the position repeats itself 3 times or more and according to the rules it is a definite declared draw under normal circumstances. In a case like that, all you do is press the declared draw button. This I understand. However, under a conditional move sequence,if my opponent moves as expected and agrees to those preset conditional moves, will the declared draw be recognized by the GK computer automatically? Will I have to press a declared draw option manually after my opponent goes through the conditional moves?I was hoping that through the conditional moves,it would all be automatic and the draw would come about without me doing anything.I know it works for "mate" situations automatically if the opponent mirrors the conditional moves, but how about a draw situation? |

Threefold Repetition and 50-Move rule are not automaticThese two types of draws are not automatic; they must be claimed by a player. www.chessstrategyonline.com Hope that helps! Matt |

BTW were players able to write these sort of things down on the postcard when playing old style CC Chess? ‘If ... I claim a draw’ etc? |

Declared DrawsI think that's fine--at the end of any sequence the declaration can still be made. You can declare a three fold repetition moves after the repetition has occurred--isn't that correct? So only moves may be programmed. If in the course of the conditionals a draw condition is reached (opponent cannot move or neither player has sufficient pieces to win) the draw condition is automatically triggered. My suspicion is that the conditional move program permits additional moves even after the draw condition is reached. I don't know--but I wouldn't make the program search for draw conditions if I wrote it. Just the checkmate. The draw conditions would be hit by the regular program move. Conditional moves permit ONLY moves. And again, GK's implementation of this feature appears to be the best on any game site I've played. Plus conditional triggered moves appear in the log. So sweet! |

Many hate itI asked about it on here once, without naming the opponent. The people on this board attacked me, saying I should never call anyone out. And I didn't call him out. He got onto my thread and outed himself. Then GK deleted my posts! Another guy called me a prick after I mated him with eight straight conditional moves. The game had been obviously lost for a long time. As I have heard many times in my life about many different things: If you don't like it, you can quit. |

I try and not make many comments in the forums, like you guys that have been here much longer than me,but I know that at my rating level,I send and receive conditional moves all the time with no issues or complaints. The bottom line is that you are only following the rules that have been set up by GK themselves.I would think that any dislike of conditional moves, for any reason and no matter what the reason should be laughed at and taken less than a grain of sand.In fact, would increase the usage of the allowable law set forth by GK in any specific game where you know the opponent dislikes their usage and use them even more for that specific opponent. Their complaints seem childish to me with levels of inexperience in correspondence chess. If they put you on ignore...well laugh again! That would seem to me like a child throwing a temper tantrum!Plenty more opponents on GK if they never play you again. |
