Two questions about Ladder

Hi, I would like to know:

1. How long the Ladder last (a month, a year...)?

2. If you have to withdraw, is there a penalty?

Both those questions could be answered by reading the ladder rules.

Hi Andres!
The ladder just carries on indefinitely. Some players may prefer one ladder over the other and just stay on that ladder; others (fickle types like myself) may get bored after a while and resign from the ladder - in order to join the other ladder.
When a player leaves a ladder, the ladder treats all of that players current games in that ladder as losses (purely for ladder purposes - the games themselves continue).
The only real thing that I can think of that could be considered as a "penalty", is that a player may not rejoin that ladder until all the games they had in that ladder have been completed.

Players are automatically removed from the Chess Ladder if they time out in 3 Ladder games within one month (to avoid further losses since ladder challenges cannot be declined). That's the only penalty I know of with the Ladder, along with what a1700 said as well (The same applies to League games)
