Analyzing by flipping/turning the board around
Do you find that turning the board around and analyzing a position helps you when analyzing a position? I played chess for 35 years before I played on-line and got that option. To me it seems like a waste, and does not help when analyzing. In fact it's somewhat of a distraction that may lead to a bad move.

I've never tried it ...probably for the same reasons as you , however on my actual board at home I do flip the board all the time when analysing past games ... the one's I've usually lost ! It is an option , I guess players who know what they're doing make use of it , but I've only used it here by mistake

I do not do it often, but flipping the board provides a different perspective. It can be useful to see what your opponent sees. I think rating plays a big role. I doubt players over 1800 use it much, but under 1600 should find it very helpful. If your strength is attack, by rotating the board you better perceive what you need to defend against, and vice versa.
