 Just a strong suggestion with ignore list optionsPerhaps not to work if you are on a team which has broad team messages sent out,but for those who are not on a team,why not?And it should not work for "free members"since they are required to receive all kinds of stuff.But paying members should have an option to click on and off ALL incoming messages which,when activated also prevents all outgoing messages until deactivated.I really think that this would be a nice option for many. Some GK members prefer complete privacy.On rare occasions I,like others who I have chatted with over the years,get that occasional "nut case"that sends bothersome PM's to me and others on GK or sends some ridiculous remarks about a recent blitz game and more.I even had a new member PM me and attack my autobiography and a Pop star that I love to write about in my profile as I am now retired and love to write about my past career and music loves.Sure,I place them on ignore "afterwards",but if there was an option to avoid this nonsense in the first place,then there would be 1.No need for an ignore list 2.Would prevent future complaints to GK over PM issues,which,I am sure,they do not want to receive in the first place. I think it can be done(an option like this)and I feel it is a very good idea for a hundred reasons. So,temporarily,long term or permanent "universal PM blocking"I know for a FACT would be a great option to many I have chatted with on GK for years and can and will prevent "nut cases"to even enter "my private space". |

I'm old...but never "confused",not yet anyway! So,he left GK.Part of his personality curve in the wrong direction was DUE TO his "exposure"to those others from a club who bicker all the time like old ladies in a knitting circle.I will not mention that clubs name.Yes,a bad cold can spread to others,so again,I have forgiven ocean-1. In addition: I just got GK to give a warning to another player who entered my PM recently.He is a new player that just joined in 2023 and does not know the "ropes"yet,but "I"will instruct!!When you enter my PM for no good reason after losing in a blitz game to me and call me a name which I cannot repeat...then the sparks begin to fly.He was warned,which surprises me,because GK has not lately been responding to others.So...... Again,I still like the idea of a universal PM block and only let in GK's occassional messages in by my option.Just a pipe dream,I am sure,but having that option,prevents some others from their "own demise"by NOT getting warnings and other things.I see a reoccurring "pattern"with negative remarks that are against the GK rules with two types of GK players(mainly):New 1200 rated corresp players and 1200 to 1300 rated who go into the blitz room and lose against me or others,then want to rush to my PM in a few seconds to call me names.Very childish,of course. I could let it all go,as others suggested,but it is with experience... that I know if I do let them go,they will "continue"on their path of childish stupidity.So...I get the "stick out" and chastise them....ha ha!! It never ends,I tell you. I forget,but since 2005,I think that I have had 3 players booted out of GK permanently for repeated PM rule breaking and blitz rule breaking chat against me.Three more had their blitz AND PM messaging privileges suspended either permantly or temporarily.I made SURE of that.But Mike was in control back then and I got faster results.The key was the gameboard blitz #,time of the offense and exactly what was said.Without all of that,it was fruitless to complain. Why pick on me?Well,psychologically,a player with a high rating is an easy target to aim arrows at!I knew that 30 years ago,so it is nothing new to me.And I know for CERTAIN,that is it not only me,but about 10 other 2200-2400+rated players that have the same issues as I do.They just do not bring it too light in the GK forums,but I do see it in a few of the GK clubs,that is,if you look closely enough.I just recenly PM's someone to throw OUT a player from one of those GK clubs that cause friction all the time.It was only a suggestion,but one day a war will begin in that other club and I hate to see the club close. So,when I bring up things like "universal PM blocking"...it may seem funny to some,but it has some very valid points about it.Probably cannot be done due to team messages as such.But perhaps an option for those who are not on a team,like me. Ignore lists come in many flavors and colors.I have 3 on my ignore list so that I know not to challenge them again!Its a reminder to me only.On the higher rating levels,some players take offense if you challenge them,but did not read their profile of..."team or league games only".I do not automatically read all profiles all the time.Its not a requirement.Another player told me that he knows I use conditional moves,so not to bother him again and got testy. So,I placed them on ignore so that I do not "accidently"challenge them again a year later!! See?So not all ignore lists are for reasons of very BAD PM messages as I described above.Some are on the "fenceline".Others,I place on ignore because after years of studing Psychology,I know the strong potential for them to enter my PM and try and start an argument.Some forget that they have entered my PM years prior to start some kind of fuss and I remember,but they have forgotten. I prevent the same player from doing it again,at least in my PM,but I have no control over posts in a club scene or other places nearly as much as a personal PM. Thanks for reading.I know...I write too much,but when you are retired and living on an island in the Caribbean,it gets boring to lay on the beach most days,consuming a pitcher of margaritas and watching all those bikinis and yachts sailing by!Now waiter,you do not have enough Patron in my drink!! Let me add the strange and unusual... Only a few days ago I challenged a player over 2400 in rating from Germany. I figured he would be a good opponent,not only because of his rating,but I figured we might have a few things in common with the music of Sandra who was from Germany and who I highlight in my profile and he was about my age. Well,as soon as I challenged him he canceled the game and set these "ground rules" with a PM to me.Already ,I knew something "dumb"was about to occur.Without reading the first word in his PM to me(at first) and from experience,I knew stupidity was about to "unfold"! He said,in so many words...."its not normal to NOT chat in my games and you MUST introduce yourself and I never play black with any new opponents"!I wrote back and said...what about those who do not speak or write English?So,you will not play a Frenchman who does not chat with you or care to introduce themselves?I challenged him in a game,no more,no less.If you don't want to play black fine,but setting up the absolute need for game chat and formal introductions is a ridiculous way to think and perceive.Chat is optional.Its like he was royality.The thing is,is that I canceled the game BECAUSE he did not accept and the game was about to time-out anyway!No more,no less!So.... No problem at all.BUT what he said to me was AFTER I canceled the game(rightfully so)because it was going to time-out in another few minutes.So he intentionally "waited"like a spider in a weaved web to then give me all his "ground rules"of engagement in a PM to me like a "recipe"! Now,my profile tells all about my life and my interests.I do not need to send him gameboard chat or PM chat to "appease"his "need"to converse and need to play the black.Fine.But find someone else.That is NO way to intoduce yourself to me with some kind of detailed "recipe"like he was some kind of elite GM.He is not a GM.Sounds to me like another psychological "head case"to me.In other words...before I even had the "chance"to say one word to him,he sent me a PM and said it was "inappropriate behavior"and not normal to NOT chat in a game and be very social.This is before the game commenced and a PM was sent to me.If I could use my foot to kick through his computer monitor and knock him out...I would have. Funny to the max.I turned blue with his stupidity laughing on the beach!!! And of course,I had to place him on ignore,so that I do not get the same ridiculous message a year from now when I forget and challenge him again with the white pieces instead of black!!God forbid that,for he would send me another of his fine recipes of play. Maybe I should give him my music studio address,my personal email and my sexual preferences? By his standards,all is necessary to play this "royal"2400+rated player!!!! Ha ha ha. The trouble is his "recipe of engagement",absolute necessity chat and the "must"for formal introductions and chat about my past life(yes,that was mentioned by him)was the equivocal of a recipe with chocolate covered sauerkraut on top of your banana split with anchovies mixed in.No,not to my tastes!Bring on the ignore list!! See the nut cases I deal with?You guys have no idea of what REALLY goes on on GK!! It makes me laugh.I should have wore an SS uniform from Nazi Germany and sent him a picture with the words....Jawohl Herr Kommandant! Trouble is that I am half German,so not a good thing and it is me that would have probably received a warning!!
