Rating

I just won a game against an 1137 as an 1193 and my rating did not change.
It was via checkmate, on move 15, both of us have more than 20 games, and his rating went
down 8 points afterward.
Does anyone know what happened?

Such short games aren't rated for the winner if both players have logged in from the same computer/IP address

Not really fair if you ask me ...

I can understand the rule which results in tinioril not getting any points for the win ... but I don't understand the fact that why gambit14 lost 8 points out of the same

game.

Not really fair if you ask me. It would make more sense as no transition of points occurred at all and the game would be treated as unrated ... not?

Same computer two different players? There's a potential that somebody could do this to inflate their rating numbers. By subtracting but not adding points, this rule deters it from happening.

However, what if someone wanted to deflate their rating numbers by this method so that team play would be affected? It would be easily tracked by GK and the manipulation would be caught as soon as another team complained.
