Chess mouse slips
If you follow the chess tournaments that top GMs have been playing lately you know what I am talking about. When playing at this level on live games (I mean not correspondence), wouldn't you say it is fair to try to "undo" a wrong move caused by a obvious mouse slip (placing your piece in a different square to the one you aimed at) if such move is revertible (obviously not a pawn move)? I mean, after your opponent's blunder you could make another "silly" move, let your opponent move back to the original square for the piece just moved, you would do the same and then continue playing from there. Art this level the know it was a mistake and they know what this "fixing" next move would mean. I have only seen something similar when Magnus gave away one full game after Ding Liren lost due to a bad network connection when he was clearly ahead.

Confusion
Taking back a move would cause too much confusion.
A player who sees the move was an instant blunder would claim it as a mouse slip.
What Carlsen did was noble but if that became a regular occurrence then people in tough positions would disconnect and hope to benefit from that.
Real chess tournaments should be starting back up soon... hopefully.

Mouse slips are annoying, but they are a part of computer/online chess... well, they're annoying when I make them!
The key is to just train to not misclick, or misclick less often.

I'm not saying that's what I do, just what I should!

Mouse slips are ok...if they are within the first two moves of any game on GK...both CC and blitz, unrated and rated. The game can be canceled and started over again,if the opponent agrees with no loss or gain of rating points. If not, just go to another opponent.Starting from move #3,well,your on your own.

Sometimes, even the best gaming mouse is not actually designed for everyone. For years,I have been using one of the cheapest mouse's on the planet and you might have to go on Ebay to find it,for it is decades old.Simple, clean, fast and melts into my palm like butter.Perfect for blitz. Its a Memorex MX 4200.But that design has a female hollow end,so it won't work on many newer computers without an adapter.

Do not use a mouse pad, because you could slip off the end and make a mistake.
The surface of your desk should be a slick laminate finish with no stickiness,no glue or coffee marks.Other than that,if your are NOT playing blitz, then it does not matter if you slip and place a piece on the wrong square.Just look closely at the position BEFORE you hit that submit button! That is all it takes.
