How you play your middle game is more important than choosing your opening!!?

My Uncle was a strong player, was still playing over the board in tournaments into his late 70s he said to me .... don't waste too much time and energy trying to find some miracle quick fix to victory opening stick with 2 or 3 solid openings and concentrate on being able to play a decent middle game, he said ... bad middle game results is lost endgame!? My Uncle only ever played 1.Nf3 followed by 2.d4 as white and as black 1...e6 French v white 1.e4 and 1...e6 v anything else white would play so had a very limited opening repertoire but knew the middle game positions very well!! At his peak his rating was over 2200 Elo and even at his later years at 70 was still playing at 2000 Elo

I think that the endgames are more important then anything else because that is what I was once told.

luzhim657 uncle teach same grandpa Pepe teach similar tactic. Say I play CRS, Cannot remember Sh**! Instruct me sodium attack game White so not get confuse to many open move.

Grandpa Pepe great player like uncle luzhim657. Play in 70's late life,

also teach 3 sisters older then me!

thank you for message popqueenlegned. Agree on you specific opening show how player proceed on middle game. learn same way as you learn!

like 3 sisters, they either like play Black to either. Alway tell them to improve play as Black. if play black you get better if practice!

Sisters do not play Black alway white. I tell them play Black more but they no really want play only play when grandpa Pepe use make them play.
