Strange mateplease have a look at this board: game I am playing black and am wondering why i can't take the white queen, since the white knight is pinned by my rook. Please elaborate since i am confused with my logics now Paul |

You simply cannot move your king into Any square or capture a piece at ANY time that would place your king into any kind of check position. This also includes castling....If any of your opponents pieces are "checking" the empty squares between your king and rook, you cannot castle. You also cannot castle if any piece of your opponents, even a knight is between your king and rook. The only piece on the board that "cannot" check your king is your opponents king since they can never occupy a square next to one another. Finally,a king cannot be captured, there is no such thing in chess.Mate is only achieved when you or your opponents king is "checked" and then any proceeding square the king attempts to move to also places the king in check again or by attempting to capture your opponents piece would also place you in check again with another piece.Thats mate my friend. In your game,by taking the queen, you would be placing your king in check and that of course is against the rules.... |
